Focus

Matthew 6:33
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you

Focus in today's world is as difficult as it ever has been, and as important as it has ever been as well.

The many distractions and disruptions that occur daily each and all detract from and attempt to redirect the focus toward the things of a world destined for destruction because of a lack of appropriate focus.

Individual focus is determined individually, all too often by outside forces that would constantly demand attention to trivial matters that contain a louder clamor than that which holds true importance.

Fear, pain,  perceived danger, perceived pleasure, perceived reward, each and all direct individual focus to the comfort and contentment of the individual, and away from the greater focus demanded by God, that provides the answers sought, if and only if, the proper focus is maintained.

Proverbs 8:17-21
17I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. 18Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. 19My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. 20I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: 21That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

Focus on substance and treasure in and of itself is misdirection of focus that results in the loss of what is truly substantial and truly a worthy treasure that lasts beyond the moment and cannot be corrupted by time, as its value exceeds time itself....eternal life!

Matthew 6:19-21
King James Version (KJV)
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Where your treasure is, is where the focus of the heart lies.

If that focus is allowed to be directed by the distractions of this world, it is only in this world that treasures are obtained, and that most temporarily as is pointed out so well by the scripture just quoted.

God's focus is, and always has been, contained in His initial intent for this creature that allows his focus to wander so easily, much as the attention of  the creatures he was given priority above, that of the moment, rather than that of the eternal.

God's focus is eternal.

God's plan and intent are equally eternal, unchanged and unchanging, unlike the focus of man on the temporary and changing that lie within that plan and intent.

All that distracts and subtracts from the focus demanded by God leads to distraction and subtraction from what is intended to be the final eternal state that lies beyond the focus of the moment.

To maintain focus, one must first comprehend where that focus lies, if those distractions are to be avoided, as they must be if that focus is where it is intended to remain.

2 Timothy 1:12
12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Like Paul, our focus must be beyond the cross, beyond the resurrection, beyond the fears and trials, beyond the temptations and failures of the day and remain ever on the intended FOCUS on Christ and the PROMISE that has been delivered, demanding the focus on the message that delivered that promise, and its messenger.

"Repent! For the kingdom of God is at hand."

Amen and Amen
