The Lamb and the Dove

The Lamb and the Dove Living a Christian life with its ups and downs and seemingly loads of godly works is sometimes viewed as overtime working. It certainly is not! God breathed life’s pattern into us at our first breath and assigned us to work His per-designed plan. All can be accomplished by application of the fruit of the Holy Spirit to the life given. Christians are not to produce the fruit but to bear the fruit. (Gal. 5:21-22) The earthly lamb and dove are gentle. Both are meek in spirit and are often used by the Holy Spirit to signify the love of God us ward. They are not sacred, nor are they to be worshiped. They are not to be viewed as to how Christians apply the life invested in them toward growing their gift or talents. Make no mistake! The elephant and the donkey are also not deity; are not to be over praised or condemned. They too often ignore God’s purpose for their life and its “accomplishments.” The Holy Spirit “turns a blind eye” to their feeble attempts. God me

The Rock

The Rock A few times the hymn by Dwight Pratt is sung at Christian gatherings. “Rock of ages, cleft for me; let me hide myself from thee.” A few people have tried to hide themselves from the judgment of God,; cannot hide. Some seek the “face of God;” seeking to gain His attention. All know of Him but few call upon His name or seek His face. God can hide us in the cleft of the Rock but we cannot hide in its cleft. We dwell upon the R ock and our Rock cups His hands into a cleft of protection when life’s storms rage. David wrote: "Yahweh is my rock." ( Psalms 18:2 ) W e feel his presence, see a shadow of his person but we never see His face. Exodus 33:2 0 “... he (the great I Am) said, Thou (Moses) canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.  21 And the LORD said, Behold,  there is  a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:  22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cove

Food for Thought

Food For Thought When someone begins a statement with the adage “food for thought’ one’s attention focuses on the speaker to accurately determine what exactly they should think about. Sometimes it is used as an attention grabber and sometimes as a weak apology. Either use is always the opening of a consideration of the speaker’s thoughts, suggestions or problem solutions. Their opening statement determines whether we ingest the subject or filter away content as pleases self. Jesus used attention getting in the form of parables and opening repetitions. In order for His listeners to grasp the simple complexity of His message concerning life changing worship methods, it was necessary. When we read God’s Word, we should seek to identify the topic being forecast and pray we remove filters and comprehend fully the message He sent us. It is a sin to filter God’s words to suit our own interpretation. Following the parable of the sewer Jesus made a clarifying statement to His disciple

Bosom of Abraham

Rock My Soul There is an old spiritual song; “Rock my Soul in the Bosom of Abraham.” There may be some confusion concerning being in the bosom of someone, some person s or some situation. We know that the b osom refers to the human chest. It is the front of a person’s chest, especially when thought of as the center of human feelings; the heart! The  bosom  of Abraham was considered h i s middle where emotions could lie protected from outside influences. There, in the bosom of Abraham, peace, rest and perfect joy was found. Luke 16: 20 “ And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,  21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.  22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;  23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar

Comfort

Comfort Thanks be to God, Kingsport Times News and all contributors for “Words of Comfort .” We are well aware of the aspects of enjoying a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint. Though seldom, since the fall, have we been totally comforted. Knowing both visible and latent feelings of discomfort among our fellow earthlings, we strive to elevate some degree of stress. We are able to accomplish this task by the easing of a person's feelings of grief or distress with "a few words of comfort" This is possible only through the partnering of the news column “Words of Comfort” and God’s chosen, contributing ministers. Matthew 5:4 “ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” Comfort is available in this present life if we believe, ask and God permits. However for those who live the “life of Reilly” now and neglect God, there is no hope for comfort following the Death Angel. Luke 16:25  “ But Abraham said, Son, reme
