The Lamb and the Dove
The Lamb and the Dove
Living a Christian life with its ups and downs and seemingly loads of godly works is sometimes viewed as overtime working. It certainly is not! God breathed life’s pattern into us at our first breath and assigned us to work His per-designed plan. All can be accomplished by application of the fruit of the Holy Spirit to the life given. Christians are not to produce the fruit but to bear the fruit. (Gal. 5:21-22) The earthly lamb and dove are gentle. Both are meek in spirit and are often used by the Holy Spirit to signify the love of God us ward. They are not sacred, nor are they to be worshiped. They are not to be viewed as to how Christians apply the life invested in them toward growing their gift or talents. Make no mistake! The elephant and the donkey are also not deity; are not to be over praised or condemned. They too often ignore God’s purpose for their life and its “accomplishments.” The Holy Spirit “turns a blind eye” to their feeble attempts. God measures (judges) the man and marks him as to his worthiness.
John 1:32-33 "And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.”
John saw the ‘Lamb’ of God coming and knew him by the appearance of the dove. The dove is the Holy Spirit and Jesus the Lamb that took away the sins of all so they could become lambs in the sheep fold. Christians are not goats, camels or monkeys. We are children of the most high God: lambs for His flock. However, only if we abide in Him and He in us.
So, patiently and with all perseverance, we trod the life line He started us on and do the work of Christians. Our bodies are not our own but God’s.
Romans 12:1 1”I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith”
Know God, know peace. Amen. 03/31/21 BLL
