Visions and Dreams 7/18/14 “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:” (Joel 2:28) Today we return to another of the “minor” prophets that have drawn and continue to draw my attention over the past few months, and their relevance to us today. I have heard many sermons taken from this particular scripture, many varying interpretations of its current relevance, many interpretations of the promise given by this opening verse. For ME   to grasp any significance, to our times, and the world in which we live, I found I first had to read the entire prophesy given by this old prophet from the first chapter through the end. As this is a lengthier piece of scripture than I could expect most to take in one bite, I ask that you also, at your own leisure, in your own time also read the entire book. Joel was prophe

Except There Come a Falling Away  7/19/14 "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exhalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. (Thessalonians 2:1-4) That falling away, spoken of by Paul, prophesied by Christ, is in the process of coming to conclusion and fruition as the love of many has waxed colder than the subzero temperatures of winter in the Arctic climes of this insignificant speck of dust whirling continually toward the inevitable end that has been prepared for it

They Have Sown Wheat, But Shall Reap Thorns 8/24/14 "They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the Lord. (Jeremiah 12:13) An old hymn, well liked and often sung by this old preacher poses a question asked by just about every single Christian I have ever come into contact with as to why it seems that so many seem untouched by the promised and assured wrath of God for deeds done and left undone;  "Tempted and tried, we're oft made to wonder, why it should be thus, all the day long.... While there are others living about us, Never molested, though in the wrong." That song promises a better understanding "Farther Along". Understanding will indeed be far clearer, "farther along", but is readily available through the scripture when time is taken to bother to read it now as well! "R

Where  the Treasures Were Laid Up 8/25/14 "Then Darius, the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon." (Ezra 6:1) Searches for treasure has been a preoccupation of men since Adam sought treasure in the poison of the fruit he exchanged for a treasure already held that had no comparison then or now. Daily there is an ongoing dream of finding various "treasures" long lost to civilizations through various means, whether ship-wreck, or purposely hidden. Legends abound, and maps are made and sold the gullible, artificially aged, drawn by hands that hold only the greed of the hearts of those drawing them to sell for profit, thereby providing a "treasure"  to them that make them alone. Mines are excavated searching for "lost treasures" and the treasures of minerals and metals that hold value to those children of Adam still in continual search for treasur

Out of the Mouth of Babes 7/17/14 "O LORD, How excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth f babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightiest still the enemy, and the avenger." (Psalm 8:1 & 2) The mouths of babes, a font of truth and wisdom incomparable in a world continually beset by the deceit and lies of adults running that world, is continually ignored in favor of the supposed gain to be had by that very innocence necessary for the gain to be had by a soul in need. It is through the speech and actions of the youngest that what is taught, what has been taught and believed to be true may be measured. Monkey see: Monkey do! Babies, and, most particularly the smallest of them are dependent upon the nourishment, both physical and spiritual given by their parent. Without the physical nourishment, the body fails and languishes to the point of death
