Where the Treasures Were Laid Up...the Wayfarer

Where  the Treasures Were Laid Up
8/25/14

"Then Darius, the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon."
(Ezra 6:1)

Searches for treasure has been a preoccupation of men since Adam sought treasure in the poison of the fruit he exchanged for a treasure already held that had no comparison then or now.

Daily there is an ongoing dream of finding various "treasures" long lost to civilizations through various means, whether ship-wreck, or purposely hidden.

Legends abound, and maps are made and sold the gullible, artificially aged, drawn by hands that hold only the greed of the hearts of those drawing them to sell for profit, thereby providing a "treasure"  to them that make them alone.

Mines are excavated searching for "lost treasures" and the treasures of minerals and metals that hold value to those children of Adam still in continual search for treasures hidden from them, coveted by them without perception of exactly what treasure is expended in that search they make and pursue.

Treasures are sought through the use of slave and child labor, bringing only stones to the surface from beneath the feet of those seeking those treasures, and expending the blood and souls of those forced to labor to bring those stones to the surface.

Treasures are sought through a search for power, through the continual strife of men to control the availability and profitability of products that are seen as so valuable by those buying them that it is worth killing others in the same business, and any who would hamper the production of the items providing wealth, providing a different treasure for the seller than the treasures sought by the buyers.

All of these "treasures" result in the same consequence comprehended by Adam, understood only after squandering the real treasure that was and is available to his progeny.

Adam found death, and exile in his search. Death and exile are still the result face by that progeny still searching for what Adam sought, never opening their eyes or ears to comprehend the true treasure of God's  love, freely given for a lowly price of obedience and completion of purpose intended for the creature too stubborn to recognize the truth of the treasures of that love, choosing instead the lies whispered that promise one thing more, one thing greater, one thing to be desired while delivering only that same death and exile found by Adam.

"Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death."
(Proverbs 10:2")

Treasure and reward are to be sought, but be cautious of which treasures are sought, and that the true reward of those treasures is to be.

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves  treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

(Matthew 6:19-21)
"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."
(Revelation 22:12)

Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus!

2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Amen and Amen
