Yet no Man Remembered

"For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
There was a little city, and few men within it: and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:
Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.
Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.
The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of that ruleth among fools.
Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.
(Ecclesiastes 9:12-18)
In the quietude of the day, the words of a poor man who walked the earth for a season may be heard, if one listens carefully enough, actually caring to hear what wisdom was given by him.
During the cacaphony and chaos of the business done during the day, the distractions brought by that noisesomeness that drowns out that quietude, those words are often not remembered, nor respected.
Solomon noted that the poor man is not regarded by any, until such time occurs when defeat seems imminent, and then only for the time that that wisdom imparted may be needed, only to be forgotten again as the turmoil and trouble subsist for a time, failing to remember that wisdom given as well as the poor man who gave it.
Christ was the poorest among men, yet the greatest to have ever walked this planet, walking not only in the confines of a physical body; a man seemingly destitute of wealth, but in fact the Son of the living God, owner of the universe and all contained within it.
Poverty exists on more levels than worldly wealth, which is of no real consequence to God what so ever.
It exists on a far deeper level in those who have forgotten the Poor Man, who really was far richer than any other, yet unrecognized and unheeded because of that seeming worldly poverty.
Over the history of God's people, poverty, and humility along with the humbleness of circumstance were commonalities of the prophets sent to remind that people of the riches and blessings thrown away simply because of their disdain of the provider of true wealth.
Persecution, death, enslavement, misery ensued each time that people departed from the commandments, and the love given them that was the reason behind those commandments, by a Creator and Judge from whom mercy had been shown despite that departure, only to invoke wrath again and again with the refusal to remember.
That departure materializes in all facets of society choosing to accept abomination after abomination as the norm to be expected, never acknowledging the laws of God as valid and continuous.
Whether gluttony, sodomy, incest, unnatural "unions", theft, murder, or complete abandon to the greed of self that has destroyed all previously "great" societies, and civilizations, it continually rears its ugly head to separate man from God, and invoke the judgment and wrath that was promised and given from the day Adam was cast from the garden to today.
The warnings and wisdom given by the "Poor Man" are again forgotten, again ignored in favor of the so called strength of the bulwarks set against them by a deceptive and vengeful creature determined to destroy as many as possible, stealing the essence and souls of those who listen only to his prattling promises of wealth and "happiness" to be given through forgetting that it is both temporal and temporary, coming at the cost of what is eternal.
Blasphemy, and those who accept that blasphemy is rampant as God is denied... as men, their teachings and desires attempt to refute the irrefutable fact of that eternity and what lies in store for those accepting it.
Choices are made daily. Those choices come with eternal consequence, as is determined by the One forgotten and ignored.
Just as the old prophets continually reminded their nation of the need to return to God, that salvation came only with repentance and that return, so too did the greatest Prophet remind us of the consequences, both reward and damnation that exist on a plane that is no longer temporal or temporary, but eternal.
Christ's message of redemption through repentance came with the admonition to remember as well the consequences of choice.
"Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
The love demanded by he single commandment left us by him, is a commandment pertaining to both the physical needs of this world, and most importantly the needs of the eternal soul that faces destination either in that love, or in the damnation of separation from that love without regard to the temporal wants that are the weapons of the deceiver, whose goal is to share his own punishment with as many a may be stolen through forgetfulness of the requirements given by that "Poor Man"!
" And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
(Matthew 28:18-20)
"No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon."
(Matthew 6:24)
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled"
(Matthew 5:17)
Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus!
2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen
