Love's Reach

Love’s Reach 1 John 4:8 -”He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” Bible writers address the is s ue of love. Especially Apostle Paul. He examines the issue of the atonement of Christ Jesus for our help for sinful infirmities. Love has a healing aspect that cannot be overlooked. The Holy Book contains the word love over eight hundred times. Always “love” is associated with t he effects of saving knowledge in producing obedience, and love to the brethren. Christian love (agape) address es other Christians as little children, young men, and fathers. All are counseled concerning their love of this world and what Satan has to offer. Also they are instructed to guard against erroneous actions that appear often. We Christians, just as t hey, are to anchor the soul in love. We must obey God’s commandments; all of them. We must be strong in love, faith and holiness. When have an Advocate with the Father; He is "Jesus," the Sa

Creatures of the Swamp The Wayfarer

Image
Creatures of the Swamp Romans 12:2 King James Version (KJV) 2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The environment in which we choose to live shapes thought patterns. Those thought patterns determine actions taken, all too often in conformity with those very environs. Creatures living in a swamp are subject to the dangers of that swamp as long as they continue to remain in that swamp. The unquestioned king of a swamp is the creature with the greatest strength and cunning, often being the alligator. The alligator is capable of stalking its prey, unseen, swimming beneath the currents of the rivers and beneath calm waters of ponds and lakes that make up the environment of the swamp it rules. By the time that prey is aware of its presence, it is far too often too late to take flight to safety away from the swamp. That prey,

The Law

The Law T here is recorded a law given of God and revealed in the New Testament. The law cut into stone served, however slack, from Moses until Christ. But there is a law even greater and more personal significance to the Christian. These law fulfilled other laws carved and written. (“ came not to destroy, but to fulfill” the law given Moses ( Matthew 5:17 )all the A sample appears like this: “Ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ . . . written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart” ( 2 Corinthians 3:3 ). It is an internal conviction branded in the heart by the Spirit of God! “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them” ( Hebrews 10:16 ). This burning lettering of God’s law in our hearts and minds has been accomplished because Christ came not to destroy law and “hat

Peter was a Wayfarer.....the Wayfarer 11/7/14

Peter was a Wayfarer 11/7/14 “When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of fishes which they had taken: And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.” (Luke 5:8-10) Peter was once a fisherman, but became a wayfarer! After having agreed to use his boat to put out to sea slightly so that more people on the shore could hear Jesus’ teachings, after having completed that particular mission, these three partners were then asked to sail a bit farther to once more put out nets that had gone empty in their attempt to make a living from the sea. As with so many others, one simple act of faith was followed with a far richer reward than could be comprehended by them. They had no idea of the riches of that reward, or of

Sound Doctrine.....HMM

July 30, 2019 Sound Doctrine “Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.” ( 2 Timothy 1:13 ) When Paul wrote to his two young disciples, Timothy and Titus, he stressed again and again the vital importance of maintaining sound doctrine in their churches. “If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome [same word as ‘sound’] words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness” ( 1 Timothy 6:3 ; see also 1:10). “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine” ( 2 Timothy 4:3 ). “That he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers” ( Titus 1:9 ). “But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine” ( Titus 2:1 ; also 2:8). If the great apostle was so concerned that his pastoral disciples guard the doctrinal integrity of their first-century churches, he would sure
