Who are we to Be
 7/19 /19

1 Peter 2:9 King James Version (KJV)

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

The world we live in is one of many divisions that are included within nations, alliances, races as defined by color of skin etc... etc... etc.

There is, however, one distinction that separates all those listed and unlisted into two groups that hold the utmost importance when defining just who we are.

That distinction is not made by man with all his prejudices, opinions and attitudes, but rather is made by God Himself.

We are either Saved or unsaved.

No matter whether one uses the appellation of Christian or not, a word used by all denominations and churches and sects that have come into existence because of the various divisions created by man, God only sees the redeemed or unredeemed after having established the means of salvation for any, and all, through the sacrifice of His only begotten Son.

Once that redemption has occurred, there exists a commonality that replaces all other divisions that separate us into the various categories established by men.

Romans 12:2

King James Version (KJV)

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Those who ARE redeemed ARE transformed and of the same mind as a part of the body of Christ.

That transformation will not allow them to conform to the various "isms and ologies" I hve spoken of many times before, and no doubt must again.

That transformation also allows for discernment between mankind's various teachings and the will and law established by God.

Despite the " ism's and ologies" with which men identify, that discernment comes only through having heard the simple message brought by Jesus that is redemption through repentance, repentance including the required change  in the very thought processes used by us as we must deal with those around us that have not accepted that simple message, nor the promise that accompanies it.

In short, we no longer think like other men, rather we strive to understand and follow the same thought process held by Jesus, and follow the teachings that are a part of that process.

John 15:16-19

King James Version (KJV)

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Understanding the hatred of the world for the redeemed is difficult, until you come to the realization of just how different we are from the rest of humanity.

The many "religions" around the world define the thinking of those who claim them.
The same holds tre for all those "isms and ologies" I speak of.

We cannot trust that all men think the same way we do, because they DO NOT.

What is acceptable as "moral" to them CANNOT be accepted by us, no matter how great a majority they may hold wherever they are found.

All of the divisions implemented by men between men must be put aside if we are to meet the requirements demanded  by that repentance Jesus Himself said we must have.

What is important to the rest of the world  must bee seen in the light of what GOD says is important to HIM!

The laws given us by a corrupt world must, by nature, be equally corrupt.

When those laws are in opposition to the guidance given us through scripture, it is important that we understand the need to refute and refuse those laws, accepting, insead, those given by the Creator.

2 Corinthians 6:17
King James Version (KJV)
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

We MUST BE a separate and peculiar people if we are to expect to receive the promise of eternal life, just as Christ himself remained separate from those corrupting the very laws given by that creator.

Quite often that becomes a wearying and tiring thing that sends us to the well of life for refreshment and the help promised us by Christ.
It is only WITH His help that we remain capable of remaining separate, while sustaining those like us, and taking sustenance from them as well.

Isaiah 40:31

King James Version (KJV)

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint

That renewal of strength comes though prayer, through communion with the Comforter given us in the form of the Holy Spirit by Christ.

It is important that we not only acknowledge the presence of that Comforter, but also seek that presence continually as we navigate through the snares that have been placed along our path.

Titus 1:15 King James Version (KJV)

15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Again, we must accept that we do not and cannot think the way those around us do, but instead, pursue the purity that is established by redemption.

We are, and will always be the polar opposite of that which the world would have us to be, if  we are to be who God would have us be.

Our thought processes must be guided by LOVE, the same love given us by God when He chose to allow the sacrifice of His only Son so that mankind could be redeemed.

Titus 2:11-15 King James Version (KJV)

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

The time is come when all must accept or refuse the gift that is accorded us through the sacrifice and resurrection of our Lord, Christ Jesus.

That acceptance, or refusal will be evident in the lives of those making either choice, but that choice MUST be made.

Who we are, and who we are to be  remains the most important distinction that may be made between men.

All guidance is available at the tip of the fingers of any willing to search the scripture.

It is available through the unity that comes with being a part  of that peculiar people, through the communication and communion among that people, but never in unity with a corrupt and vile world
still in denial of both the warning and the promise delivered through Christ Jesus.

Where we are and where we are to be  is dependent upon who we have chosen to be, what we have chosen to accept, and who we choose to believe.

2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Amen and amen
the Wayfarer.
