“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write;
These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of
the creation of God;
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would
that thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and
have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable,
and poor, and blind and naked:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou
mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the
shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve that
thou mayest see.
As many as I love, I will rebuke and chasten: be zealous
therefore and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my
voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he
with me.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my
throne, even as I also overcame and am set down with my Father in his throne.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto
the churches.
(Revelation 3:14-22)
BUY!
The time of year has come once more
when the advertisers are out constantly hawking wares that promise great
quality and durability, only to disappoint once bought.
This is, however, not the reason or
direction of this particular message.
Although these, hawking the various “have
to haves”, damage finances and dreams of those they manage to talk into buying
their wares, there is a need to remind the reader of something far more
assiduous that damages far more than finances alone, though this too is often
the result of their “hawking" THEIR wares.
Once more I state to the reader that
I offer nothing of my own, and would take nothing from you, except perhaps the
time given to read and hopefully comprehend the messages I write and speak, and
to share the gospel with all mankind.
Unfortunately, not all share this
proclivity to reach the reachable and teach the teachable.
Just yesterday, I sat and could not
help but listen as one claiming to preach the gospel, preached instead the
benefits of buying a book that had been published.
Scripture was used and quoted, to
grant that warm fuzzy to be had simply by following the advice of the book, (to
be had at a reasonable price), along with the feel good philosophy that all men
inherently have the ability to change their lives by changing the way they
think.
This purveyor of the warm fuzzy is
quite popular, and only one of many such that enrich themselves at the expense
of the souls that buy into what they are selling.
Motivation for life is a good thing.
It should come from within the individual motivated, and be influenced through
the Spirit of God left us as a comforter to assist in facing all difficulties
and trials that MUST be a part of what is to be expected of a CHRISTIAN.
That motivation found in the feel
good philosophies will not assure the purchase of what is intended to be
purchased by Christ.
Those philosophies and TEACHINGS of
MEN may last for a while, but the teachings of Christ are eternal.
The rewards of those teachings of men
will last, temporarily, until the next obstacle is faced, and will only serve
to glorify and enrich the purveyors of such ideologies.
They are a pit, quite well disguised,
standing dead center of the path that could be taken around them if they were
readily visible.
They are a pit that CAN easily trap
those otherwise reachable and teachable who not only recognize what is being
given, but avoid that particular trap that is set for them by no less than
Satan himself.
Paul warned us of the mockers to come
reminding us:
“Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these
things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.”
(Ephesians 5:6)
Peter, too gave warning:
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as
there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable
heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves
swift destruction.
And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of
whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make
merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their
damnation slumbereth not.
(2 Peter: 2:1-3)
John also reminded us that:
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits
whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the
world.”
(1 John 4:1)
In fact, all of the Apostolic
writings give this same warning of what is to be expected, and how to recognize
it.
Those warnings are there for a
reason. That reason is to keep the very souls of those that may be reached with
the TRUTH of the gospel given us by none other than the Son of God himself,
Christ Jesus.
We are NOT promised easy!
We are NOT promised wealth on this
earth beyond what is intended for us!
We are not promised a rose garden,
but a path that is hard to walk and difficult to navigate…that IF we choose to
follow the Teachings of Christ instead of those feel good philosophies, accept
the salvation offered through the blood sacrifice given by HIM, who had ALL, to
include ALL prosperity and wealth, ALL peace and happiness, All power, All
Glory, and chose to leave it behind to grant US a means to ETERNAL LIFE through
the TRUTH given by Him alone and provide a WAY for us to attain that eternal
life and the blessings of our Father... His Father, and the only giver of any
blessings either on this world or in the next.
Yes it is time to BUY, but recognize
the value of what is being bought!
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou
mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the
shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve that
thou mayest see.”
(Revelation 3:18)
I close with these words spoken, not
by this simple sinner saved by grace through faith in His promise to me;
soldier and constant warrior until the time I am finally judged worthy of
removal from the field of battle and granted the promise that has been made,
but instead these words above are from MY MASTER, Christ himself!
Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus!
2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen.
