Know Thyself

Know Thyself

I am sure most of us have heard it spoken, “as a man thinketh. So is he.” There is truth in this aphorism. Literally, they believe (think) that their brain and its functions, which are explainable speaking scientifically, can alter their physical and conscious level of existence to meet their personal desires. There is truth hidden in this concept. A person is literally what they think; believe. Our character is composed from the sum of our mental processes. Legally, all crimes are premeditated and none excusable on spontaneity. All acts result from the way a person thinks and therefore all acts are premeditated. Therefore, the excuse “I didn’t know” is irreverent. Still, The worship of one being able to alter their physical existance in any way is preposterous. If it appears that such is being done. Search out daemonic spirits. We are who we are!
Luke 644 “For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” (John 1:22)Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
Solomon knew himself. He knew his shortcomings and his streignyhs. He knew where his soul drew its commands.
1 Kings 3:11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;”
Jesus spoke from the cross the truth of the certainty of who he was.

Luke 23:37 “And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.” (John 10:17) “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.” Jesus knew for certain who He was and what He could do. His mind was not on himself or earthly stuff. His mission was ending; he was ready.

Knowing thyself is not a brain thing but a spiritual thing. The holy Spirit plants in the heart what we are. The heart signifies mindful awareness of who we really are.  If you cherish kindness, or compassion, or understanding… if these qualities are sacred for you… then “goodness of heart” means to hold these qualities in front of you, to remember that this is who you really are, and to allow the energy of these qualities to direct and empower you as you move through your life. Know thyself and and your capabilities. Know God, know peace. Amen. 03/08/21 BLL
