Shod
Shod
Many living in today's technological atmosphere were born past the age of the horse and buggy. They never saw a horse being shod. Horse shoes were of forged iron and shaped by a black smith to fit the particular horse the farrier was shoeing. The hoof was rasped to flat, clean and edged. When the farrier was ready to apply the shoe, he heated it and, with tongs, pressed it against the bottom of the horse’s hoof. It painlessly burned the shape of the shoe into the hoof. Long, special nails were then driven through holes in the shoe in a manner that curved them out the side of the hoof. They were snipped and curled to retain the shoe. Owners were diligent in the preparation of their steeds footwear. Christians must be no less aware of the necessity of being properly shod.
Ephesians 6:14 “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (15) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”
Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of truth describes a spiritual shoe; a spiritual aid. Feet properly shod requires a clear understanding of the gospel of peace; God’s Holy Word! Know that spiritual gifts belong to our souls; our spirits.
Satan assault us in the things that belong to our souls, and strives to deface the heavenly image in our hearts. We must not to yield to Satan. Resist him, and he will flee from you. If we give way, he’s ready. Note that there is no armor covering the back; no safety net for those who turn back in the Christian warfare. Steadfast sincerity produces victory. It is the righteousness of Christ implanted in us, that fortifies our heart against the assault of Satan. Our feet must be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. All work must be drawn from a clear knowledge of the gospel. Faith comes by the gospel and is our sword during temptation. Know that the wicked one delivers violent temptations by which the soul is set on fire of hell. The sword of the Spirit filled word of God subdues and mortifies any evil desires and thoughts as they rise within Christians; and they do rise. Prayer and faith are keys to victory. We must keep up times of prayer. We must use holy thoughts always as prayers. Wherefore we must stir up ourselves. Have not we, when God has called, often neglected to answer? Let us think upon these things, and continue our prayers with patience.
Know God, know peace. Amen. 03/08/21 BLL
