Standing Tall
Standing Tall
During my short time on earth, I have had ample opportunity to observe people. Also, in my chosen profession, it was absolutely necessary to be observant. Tall people tend to slump their shoulders to appear shorter. Short people often wear lift shoes and wear vertical strip clothing to appear taller. Heavy people disguise their appearance in a number of ways. Thin people take steroids, high protein foods and attend bulk building Gym programs. Physical appearance desires seem to be opposite to that possessed and a given time. Standing tall is not limited to appearance. It can refer to position, status, or reputation. Standing can be applied to specify the length of time that something has endured or that someone has fulfilled a particular role; or “paid the price” for choices made.
Spiritually, walking “tall” has several transparent applications. Still references to spiritual matters in this context refers to remaining in force or use; permanent; God given.
Moses and his people absolutely had no standing invitation to visit the inhabitants of Jericho across the river Jordan. Little David had no respectful standing before Goliath. Even Jesus had no standing in His home town or among the Jews of that day. Satan likes to plant scenes in our mind picturing horrific battles facing us by colossal, giants and monstrous.
When he shows us vivid replays of life’s storms, present and pending, we must focus on Peter walking on water, Daniel, Jonah, Hebrew brothers, Joseph and Hezekiah in Isaiah 38.
Knowing that God is very good, just and impartial, let us possess a proud and confident behavior. Yes, there are calamities that virtually take our breath away. Jesus Christ our Lord is the only real remedy. When bad things are coming, stop wishing that they were somehow different; start to walk “tall!" God is our deliverer from trials of life.
Know God, know peace. Amen. 03/25/21 BLL
