Run
Run
Young
folks of long ago ran. It did not matter if running was necessary,
they ran. Actual running is a movement of the body at
a speed faster than a walking
so that both
(or
all the feet)
are not
on the ground at the same time.
Often times, older folks would be heard telling their children to run
here and there. “Run over and get the mail.” Run and ‘fetch’
a pail of water.”
Et cetra. They
were not actually telling their children to “run” but to simply
complete the assigned task. In those days, the outdoor arena was a
playground and work shop. Chores done, children would run, jump and
cavort until dark. Running was a natural and healthy pass time.
Today’s youth practice thumb exercises and mind games. Without
passing judgment, I say run.
Matthew 28:8 And
they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and
did run to bring his disciples word.
(John
20:4) So
they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter,
and came first to the sepulchre.”
- 1 Corinthians 9:24 “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.”
- Philippians 2:16 “Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”
- Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”
- Here we witness both types of the word run as defined above. Running with the wrong crowd don’t necessarily mean to go faster than walking; running a marathon does!
- Know God, know peace. Amen. 03/09/21 BLL
