Food For Thought

When someone begins a statement with the adage “food for thought’ one’s attention focuses on the speaker to accurately determine what exactly they should think about. Sometimes it is used as an attention grabber and sometimes as a weak apology. Either use is always the opening of a consideration of the speaker’s thoughts, suggestions or problem solutions. Their opening statement determines whether we ingest the subject or filter away content as pleases self. Jesus used attention getting in the form of parables and opening repetitions. In order for His listeners to grasp the simple complexity of His message concerning life changing worship methods, it was necessary. When we read God’s Word, we should seek to identify the topic being forecast and pray we remove filters and comprehend fully the message He sent us. It is a sin to filter God’s words to suit our own interpretation.

Following the parable of the sewer Jesus made a clarifying statement to His disciples:Matthew 13:9 “Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. 10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. (Matthew 15:10) And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: (Matthew 10:27) What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.” Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
John 5:28Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,”
Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:”
Food for thought: Know God, know peace. Amen. 03/29/21 BLL
