Un-forgiven Sin
LESSON 5 OF 10 Why you might not feeling blessed.
5. There is un-confessed sin in your life.
We
all have needs. We live in a world that requires much “stuff.”
There are those that have and those who have not. We all as children
of God ask for many favors. We ask, we believe, we ask on target, yet
we receive not. Others around us who seem less “Godly” or even
ungodly prosper in many things. When we go to God in prayer, we feel
a numbness in spirit. We’re just not getting God’s attention.
Why?
We
may be
praying for the blessing of a job? A promotion? Success in a certain
endeavor? Or
any of several assumed needs or desires. We come to the throne room
because we are God’s flock. He accepts us as we are but not without
requirements. If
we
are harboring
un-confessed
sin in our life, it could be affecting our relationship with God. It
could prevent him from
His handout of blessings. When
God collects us out of the world of sin, He expects a special
relationship with us. Consider,
if He’s not blessing, perhaps the relationship is strained through
disobedience in your life or habitual sin that you are not
surrendering to Him. He
knows already so confess and repent:
2
Chronicles
7:14 “If
my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I
hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,...”
James
instructs Christians to approach the throne of God in the proper
manner to be received. He further
instructs, “Submit
yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from
you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands,
you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn
and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
James
7:4-10
James asks
us to believe in this method of reaching God and getting prayers
answered.
When
we
get the relationship right with God, and maintain a level of
humility,
our
needs and even the desires of our heart
– will flow. Know
God, know peace. Amen 10-2219
