Praying Amiss 1020-19 BLL
Lesson Number 3 of 10 When you feel slighted of God
We’ve considered the aspect of lack of prayer and lack of faith. Reason number three could be that you’re asking with the wrong motives.
Many
times I have heard God’s children say: “It don’t matter how you
Pray. Kneeling, standing, laying, driving or working, God hears and
answers.” God
does hear our plea without consideration of the position of the body
while praying. He answers all prayers. With a yes or no. Why is it
that when we pray, God seems silent and unconcerned about our
petitions? Have
you ever wondered why God doesn’t answer when
His people cry out to Him.
Have
you ever questioned why God doesn’t answer
people’s prayers to win the lottery? Their
justification is they will give liberally to the church. Well, it
sure matters how your spirit is positioned when you talk to God the
Father. Spiritual positioning is strongly considered by
our Lord when we pray. James
wrote
it thus:
“Ye
ask, and receive not, because ye ask
amiss,
that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” (James
4:3)
Asking
and
not receiving
results
may be because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what
you get on your pleasures.”
Self
serving Lustful prayers are not answered. Know how to pray. In 1
Corinthians 14:1 Paul wrote: “What
is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the
understanding also:...”
Try
asking God for blessings that will help you bless others and
bring Him honor and glory. Or
try asking Him to bless others first, rather than yourself. Self
centered prayers, though understandable by us, are not entertained in
the sphere of the Holy Spirit. Put God up front in praise and thanks
unselfishly before petitioning Him for favors. See: Psalm
37:4,
“Delight
yourself in the Lord
and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
If He is your desire and your delight, it will delight His heart to
grant your desires.
Be
not dismayed with personally needful or hurtful things in this
present
time. Know this and make it your anchor
in hard times.

Corinthians 2:9 (KJV)
“But
as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for
them that love him.”
