Persistance
Lesson number 8 of 10: Means of Getting God’s Blessings
8. Having Stick-to-it
God’s
people are simple people in many instances. Many failures and
disappointments have conditioned them to expect failure,
disappointment and shortfalls in needs. Becoming a child of God takes
care of the fulfillment of needs but desires and wants often are not
received as requested of God. There is probably no single reason that
we can pinpoint as the factor for our heavenly Father’s withholding
or delaying fulfillment. Over the past few days we have covered
seven reasons. Today we take a close look at our attitude and
persistence: our stick-to-it. The combination of these and other
factors might result in our feeling slighted in the handing out of
blessings.
Have
you become discouraged or given up when it comes to receiving certain
blessings that you feel you deserve? Have you seen others, who are
seemingly less deserving, receiving blessings on top of blessings?
Some people just stumble blindly into riches and luxury without even
knowing God as Father. Some are born with “a silver spoon” in
their mouth and inherit the worlds pleasures. Do you petition God for
some certain advantage and then set down and wait for fulfillment?
His word tells us to do all that we can do and having done
that...stand. Maybe you haven’t been persistent enough and then
sat. Stay in the fight in the proper manner to have victory.
In
Luke
18:1-8,
Jesus told his disciples a parable “to
show them that they should always pray and not give up”
(verse 1). Because God is more concerned about a relationship with
you than giving handouts. He may simply want you to stick
to praying and working
until you have done ALL that you can. Don’t
give up or
whine and complain because you are dissatisfied with your results.
The
answer to your petition for some
blessing may be right around the corner. Consider
Luke 18:
4
And
he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself,
Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5
Yet
because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her
continual coming she weary me.
7
And
shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him,
though he bear long with them?
No
one can say when enough is enough. Certainly when our prayers are
answered we rejoice and cease to pray concerning the situation or
need. But, if the answer does not seem to be forthcoming, at what
point should we cease our plea to God. The Holy Spirit will guide you
if you are praying in the Holy Ghost. Know God, know peace. Amen
