Eph. 1: 2-8
Ephesians
Chapter One
1
Paul,
an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which
are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
3
Blessed
be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with
all spiritual blessings in heavenly places
in Christ:
4
According
as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that
we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5
Having
predestined
us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself,
according to the good pleasure of his will,
7
In
whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of his grace;
8
Wherein
he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
St. Paul wrote this Epistle while he was being held prisoner up in Rome Italy under false accusations of opposition to Roman Rule. The design appears to be to strengthen the Ephesians in the faith of Christ, and to give exalted views of the love of God, and of the dignity and excellence of Christ, fortifying their minds against the scandal of the cross. Down through the ages since Paul slumped in the damp and dirty prison cell scribbling on parchment, his contribution to our Christian lifestyle has endured. He makes it picture clear that we are saved by grace, and that however wretched we once were, we now have equal privileges with all those who come to Christ and meet the requirements to be His adopted children.

Paul
encourages us
to persevere faith
in
our
Christian calling, and urges us
to walk in a manner becoming our
profession, faithfully discharging the general and common duties of
Christianity,
and the special duties of particular relations with
our Lord Jesus.
He
issues a
salutation to
all who, down through over 2,000 years,
for
maintaining an
account of saving blessings, as prepared in God's eternal election,
as purchased by Christ's cross
shed blood.
(Vs.
1-8)
Know
God, know peace. Amen 10-29-19 BLL
