How to Pray
HOW
TO PRAY
- Matthew 7:21 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
- Matthew 5:45 “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
- Matthew 5:48 “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
- 2 Peter 1:20 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”
- What did Jesus say? Is there some special ritual? Must we shout out to God so He will surly hear and “lend an ear?” One’s relationship with God in all things is a personal matter. We might think correctly that all who are true children of God pray. It would be easier to discover a living man that did not breathe than to find a non praying Christian.
- Know this: There is not a secret, sudden breathing of prayers that God does not hear; but he observes it. Our open line to God through the Holy Ghost is of grace, not of debt; There is little merit in begging God’s blessings. He knows our needs before we ask? When he does not react as the praying wish, it is because he knows they do not need it, and that it is not for our good. It possibly would produce great harm. So far as “gaining the ear” of God by the length or words of our prayers. Know that the most powerful intercessions are those which are made with groaning that cannot be uttered. Let us consider what is shown of the frame of mind in which our prayers should be offered, and learn daily from Christ how to pray. The Scribes and Pharisees were guilty of two great faults in prayer, vain-glory and vain repetitions. "Jesus said that hey have their reward;" He told the disciples to pray thusly:
Matthew
6: “But
thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast
shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father
which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7
But
when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do:
for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8
Be
not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things
ye have need of, before ye ask him.
13
And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
- Matthew 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
- We, as Christians should inform new converts how to pray. If we don’t Satan will! We should then pray as Jesus said to pray. Then petitions can be brought and accepted of God. He will hear and take some action. Jesus said that what soever we ask in His name would be heard and answered if ask faith believing.
- Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
- 1 John 5:7 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” It is safe to say that this verses are fulfilled in having a closes relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord. Know God, know peace. Amen. 03-27-2020 BLL
