POWER

Philippians 4:13

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”

Through the word, observation and personal experience, knowledge of the power of God has been manifest unto us. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, of courage and resolution, to meet difficulties and dangers. We maintain a spirit of love for him. The Lord will carry us through opposition. He soothes our doubting. He puts in us the spirit of a sound mind,. In that gentle quietness of mind, resides all the power of heaven and earth. Never provoke God to anger.. The Holy Spirit is not the author of a timid or cowardly disposition, or of slavish fears. We are likely to bear afflictions well, when we have strength and power from God to enable us to bear them. So full was he of that which is all our salvation, and ought to be all our desire. The call of the gospel is a holy call, making holy. Salvation is of free grace. This is said to be given us before the world began, that is, in the purpose of God from all eternity; in Christ Jesus, for all the gifts that come from God to sinful man, come in and through the great power Christ Jesus alone. And as there is so clear a prospect of eternal happiness by faith in Him, who is the Resurrection and the Life, let us give more diligence in making his salvation sure to our souls. Let us present it with power to the lost and fading. We who cleave to the gospel, need not be ashamed; but those who oppose it, shall be ashamed. The apostle had trusted his life, his soul, and eternal interests, to the Lord Jesus. No one else could deliver and secure his soul through the trials of life and death. There is a day coming, when our souls will be searched and our Spirit demanded. The judgment of the lowest real Christian rests on the same foundation as that of the great apostle. He also has learned the value and the danger of his soul; he also has believed in Christ. Christians enjoys the change wrought in his soul. He knows the power of the Lord Jesus is sufficient to keep him to his heavenly kingdom. Paul exhorts Timothy to hold fast the Holy Scriptures, the substance of solid gospel truth in them. It is not enough to assent to the sound words, but we must love them. The Christian doctrine is a trust committed to us. It is committed to us, to be preserved pure and entire, yet we must not think to keep it by our own power, but by the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. It will not be gained by those who trust in their own hearts, and lean to their own understandings.

2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Matthew 9:6 Tells us that we may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins. Mighty works of God described in His Word and observed and reported shins a desire in our hearts to glorify God, which had given such power unto men. Jesus spoke, for the record, Matthew 28:18 “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Boundless power over ALL things resides in the Lord Jesus. Through Him we live and are what we are if our faith is in Him. We will live our life span as we choose but in the end comes judgment of all we have done or not done. Jesus recorded a prayer, in part, (Matthew 6:13) “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever...” He said forever. We need not worry that His back will be turned and His power stolen away. No worry that, with time, it will fade. With Him there is no time; just forever. We have power to resist Satan’s lies and temptations. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” In out times of storms of life he will remind us: 2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness...” Heaven knows we have an abundance of weaknesses. There will come a day very soon when our troubles will be over and our heavy guard dropped forever. The time is close of that spoken of God. He gave certain things that would touch the earth with major changes, Mark 13:26 “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.” Keep a watchful readiness and Know God, know peace.
