Miniature
MINIATURE
The
Lord gives a unique assignment
for today's lesson. I approach the development of it with caution and
prayer. Miniature does not, as such, appear in the book of God’s
Word. However, descriptively
it is
there for us to understand. Specifically it refers, in whatever
condition, to proclaim something or some issue especially
as a replica of something of a much smaller than normal in size,
status or influence; very small. It refers to little, weak or
inadequate when
used in context to refer to Spiritual acts, conditions or people of
God. Miniature is a
representation in
small imitation
intended
to duplicate
a
lookalike
reproduction or
a facsimile.
The
bible gives an example of what we turpentine as miniature in Luke
19:3 “And
he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press,
because he was little of stature.” Little
of stature used here to describe Nicodemus who
Luke
presents
as
being of
a smaller stature
than those around him.
Miniature
may be expressed, in the Word
of God, as little, small, tiny, immature, weak, insufficient,
incomplete, or any other term that describes less than wanted or
expected. Compared to Goliath, David was a miniature foe. There are
several incidences in the bible where one could use the adjective,
miniature, to replace other adjectives
used by the writer. First
Samuel 17:4
“And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines,
named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was
six cubits and a span.
(
either 9’ 7” or 11’ 3”) First
Samuel
17:42
And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained
him: for he was but
a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance. To
all who looked on they would describe David as miniature compared to
Goliath. God’s word describes many instances where inefficiencies
are little, small, weak, small etc. A good example can be found in
Mark
8:7 “And
they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set
them also before them.”
- John 2:15 “And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;”
- John 6:9 “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” A minuscule of food was all the lad had. Again long before Jesus walked as a man, Moses sent spies to check out the land east of Jordan. They reported: Numbers 13:33 “And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” They perceived themselves as miniature in their own sight. The giants also perceived them to be miniature copies of men when compared to their own size. The spies were midgets in a land of giants. In 1 Peter 2:10 we see a anther example. “Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” Their value to God was miniature. They were people but not of the proper order to be considered valuable.
- Revelation 20:12 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;...” All the dead were present at this heavenly meeting. Some were GREAT and some were SMALL or MINIATURE..
- Matthew 18:3 “And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Having a miniature amount of mental defilement and innocent is the statement here given.
- Matthew 18:4 “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. See also: Matthew 18:5 “And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.” Mark 10:15 “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” Luke 12:32 “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
- Galatians 5:9 “A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.” From a vase of a large amount a miniature amount added to the large lump of dough produces much growth. Leaven is most often associated with evil in God’s Word. Many true worshipers can allow a miniature number of apostates into the group and all will succumb to the evil they produce. God does seek out the few, little and humble to serve and love Him. There are few limits placed upon all who will come to Him. However they must come as a little child in spirit, heart and soul. Only then will they be able to enter into His eternal res. Know God, know peace.
