Little Children
LITTLE
CHILDREN
Luke:7
31
And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this
generation? and to what are they like?
32
They
are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to
another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced;
we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.
34
The
Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a
gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
Hearing
or reading the words “little children” brings thoughts of
giggling, running and prancing toddlers to mind minds. Certainly this
is not the image Jesus and His disciples meant to relay. We must
become “as little children” not little children. We must take on
the inward
character
of a child and apply it to our spiritual adulthood. When we have
pleaded with God to refine our souls to that level of love, trust and
obedience, we are ready for our new birth. Ready
to become a new man.
- (1 Peter 1:14) “As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:” (Ephesians 5:1) “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;”
- Innocence appeals to our Lord. He sees no haughtiness nor sin on their little bodies and mind. That is the acceptable condition for those who would become Christs litle children to adopt. Mark writes of such a happening when Jesus made it clear as to the nature of those who would become adopted children of His household.
- (Mark 10:3) “And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.”
- Christ loves us. When He fills us up with His spirit we are new creatures. We live as He desires us to live.
- (1 John 2) 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.” (1 John 3):18 “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. “
- We love God. We love God’s people (children). Let us prove to God and the world of our standing.
- (1 John 4):4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 5): 2 “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
- (Luke 18:16) “But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. (Matthew 18:3) “And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
- (1 John 2:28) “And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. (John 12:36) ”While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, ...(Matthew 5:45) “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:”
- (Galatians 3:26) “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus”
- Hatred, vengeance, retaliation and such as displeased God, must have no dealings with us. We are to be at peace with all men so much as is possible. The meekness of the Holy Spirit indwells us and if so, we are peace makers.
- (Matthew 5:9) “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Know God, know peace. Amen. 01-09-2020 BLL
