The Near Dead

The Near Dead

There is a television series that’s become the rave among many people. Some Christians will rush services in order to arrive home in time to watch the “near dead” wander about dragging their feet, eating the living and dropping body parts as they go. Its referred to as the “living dead, Zombies, Back from the dead,” etc. It is no better or worse than any other production as being suitable for “all audiences.” Movies and television productions that Christians can view without being offended is the weather report. I truly believe that no Christian would consider being “near dead” as reality. Why then is there such an addiction to such non truths? Entertainment, relaxing, educational… none of these or any other benefit qualifies as a product of time spent impacted in this unbelievable product of someones creative imagination. If one feels compelled to invest God’s time in fantasies, they should not do it in movie land.

There are the living, the dead and the near dead in real life. They are those who are alive with the indwelling of the Holy spirit. The near dead are those, having heard God’s call and debating Christian benefits against Satan's worldly pleasures. The dead are those who alive “knoweth” nothing. They walk always in the shadow of life but will not look upon its brightness. God is the giver of life and has on occasion resurrected those who sleep.

John 11:14 “Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. (43) And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”

Luke 20:37Now that the dead are raised,... 38  For he (God) is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.”

John 5:26 “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; (28) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29  And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

2 Kings 13:21 “And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet. [Also read Ezekiel 37]
