Swept Clean
Swept Clean
Gone now are the days that I heard: “go sweep the porch, clean the wood shed, mop the floor and dust the church floor.” Most of these were daily chores and were intended to ensure no particle of debris or dust lay unattended. “Cleanliness is next to godliness” was often heard spoken. Getting the house clean and keeping it clean was more than simply desirable. It was a self imposed act of religious demand. It was a good habit and well worth the keeping.
Matthew 12:24 “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
- John 15:3 “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.”
- 2 Peter 2:10 “But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. (17) “These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.”
(18) “For when they (those who walk after the flesh) speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.”
- Revelation 19:7 “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. Know God, know peace. Amen. 01/03/2021 BLL
