New Begining

New Beginning

New Year’s day is traditionally a time of giving thanks for blessings. Thousands around the world meet as church groups and sing praise to God, pray and worship. On December 31 each year at about 10 o’clock PM, Christians meet to thank God for the past years blessings and request continued blessings through the new year. At the midnight hour, they disperse happy and joyful.

Conversely, however, millions gather to preform mob like activities, drinking unto drunkenness and worshiping unknown gods. Among this group, there is life akin to Sodom Gomorrah inhabitants. Televising around the world and video sharing has brought great attention of these celebration antics. The dropping of the “Big Apple” in New York city symbolizes the boastfulness of a metropolitan grown out of defilement. The Big Apple" is a nickname for New York City. It was first popularized in the 1920s by John J. Fitz Gerald. Its popularity since the 1970s is due in part to a promotional campaign by The New York tourist authorities.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big Apple)

The Roman Catholic Church celebrates on this day the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of Jesus. The earliest recording of a new year celebration is believed to have been in Mesopotamia around2000 B.C. mid-March.

Currently, New Year's Day Eve, is observed on December 31/January 1, the last day and the first day of the years. On the modern Gregorian calendar as well as the Julian calendar it is so listed. In per-Christian Rome the day was dedicated to Janus, god of gateways and beginnings, for whom January is also named. As a date in the Gregorian calendar of Christendom, New Year's Day in writings marked the feast of the naming and circumcision of Jesus, which is still practiced in the Anglican Church and Lutheran Church; no more!

The masses today celebrate with grand parades, fireworks, cavorting, wine drinking, kissing and fornication. There is no thought of God’s blessings among the millions. God has been out of their sight since birth or for ages. He is not known or else is forgotten.

Exodus Chapter 32:1 “And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. (6) And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. (7) And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people,... , have corrupted themselves: (8) “...they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. (20) And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it. (25) And ...Moses saw that the people were naked;...” 26 Then Moses... said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. 27 And he said unto them,... slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour. 28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.”

There needs to be some correcting of our celebrating. Know God, know peace. Amen 01/01/2021 BLL
