sleep On

Sleep On

Truly there is a time for all things under heaven; a time to do and a time not to do. Everything has a time set aside for the working; maybe not by man but by God. When we waver from the plans God has for us we err. God is not pleased if we are slackers, shiftless or sedate in our life duties. God is not a God of a few things but a God of all things. We are to bare with His plan even when we are tired and sleepy. Worship has its time and that time must be honored by God’s children. If we are to have peace in life we must not agitate God with our lackadaisical approach to serving him. Too soon, by our reckoning, eternal sleep will befall this carnal body. Until then plow as if there was no tomorrow; who knows but God?

Matthew 26:38 “Then saith he [Jesus] unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. 39 Then he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40 "And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41 "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 42 "He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. 43 And he came and found them asleep again:... 44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Luke 9:29 “And as he [Jesus] prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. 30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:  31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.   Romans 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. [1 Thessalonians 5:6] Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” Know God, know peace. Amen. 01/22/21 BLL
