Grapevine

Grapevine

Six little children from a litter of twelve, cut a large grapevine on a steep hill side. With one leap, leg hook and swoosh, they sailed out over the tree tops and creek far below. Taking turns seemed to take an eternity. To combat that desire to more quickly and get “a turn,” one eleven year old took upon his back his nine year old sibling. In this condition the leap was made but the hooked leg failed. With all his strength, he gripped the grape vine. It was useless. At the apex of the swing, hands gave way and both boys came crashing down through limbs and leaves. Landing with a dull thump, one lay gasping for breath. Minor scrapes healed and homemade ascertainment was resumed. The grape vine, soon forgotten, rotted away as did the lesson it taught.

There seems to be a grapevine stretching throughout our communities. Often. When ask where some bit of interesting news was learned, “heard it through the grape vine” conceals the real source. The grapevine is apparently a network of gossipers who delight in passing on many kinds of information anonymously. The news is normally not good. The Contra virus opens many avenues connecting to the community grapevine. Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”

Psalms 90:9 “...we spend our years as a tale that is told.”
Proverbs 14:5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.”
Matthew 19:18 “...Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,”
Matthew 15:19 “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:”
1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.”
Revelation 1:5 “...Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!...” (Matthew 24:51) And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Mark 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.”
Know God, know peace. Amen. 01/13/21 BLL
