The way Home
THE
WAY HOME
Sometime
around fall of 1996 an elderly lady living in our community and
suffering from dementia arose from her bed one dark, fog laden night.
Going somewhere that not even she would ever recall, she headed east
on a back road leading out of her mountain surroundings. By chance or
divine intervention, a late night travler returning to his valley
based home, encountered her walking and confused quite a distance
from where she had begun her journey into the unknown. Back home,
surrounded with warmth and family showing love and encouragement, she
once again lay upon her bed of disease. The morning sun swept away
the fog of night and opened the eyes of concerned care givers. Placed
in a care facility for the aged for her safety, she would never again
know the way home.
Today,
others enter into dangerous situations without knowing how or when
their journey will end. For some, it will be a viral contact and
harsh sickness. Some will ultimately die from the virus, some recover
and some avoid the kiss of satin. Which group will you fall into?
While COVID-19 is on the front line there are waves of disastrous
diseases and situations following close behind. Are you ready. Will
the government ever regain its leadership role? Will the economy ever
recover its former glory? Will lives be what they once were? These
and other questions haunt the minds keyed to wondering; what is the
way home?
We
plunder onward in the thick fog of darkness without knowing were or
why we are going. We refuse to accept our state and obey God’s word
for directions. Stumbling along is a “sort” of stupor, we stand
at the divergence of two applications, Submit or resist safety
practices. Seems like a foolish question but there are foolish people
out there trying to decide the right was home.
- Haggai 1:9 “Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.”
- John 20:10 “Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
