The Mask

THE MASK
I met a man the other day bent beneath a heavy load. I tipped my hat and cheerfully said, "your choice of paths are many, its daft to walk this one. He looked at me through the mask I thought I had and replied, “Friend, better outward than inward sad.” W. M. Lawson – The Masks We Wear.
Many, many people wear masks today to combat COVID-19. These masks come in many designs and an assortment of colors. They are obvious and often mandated. There are other, less visible masks that we were. Strapped on by life situations, they are designed to hide true feelings of sadness, hate or disillusionment. Some wearers say they have nothing to hide and that their life is an open book. Seldom, if ever. is this true. Rather this is their mask.
It began in the garden when Adam and Eve masked themselves in leaves from the face of God. It rages today throughout the world as one of Satan’s biggest deceptions. Men cry peace and there is no peace. Death and disillusionment abounds behind our masks of protection. Still, we press on into the fray disguising our concerns while blaming everything including God for the onslaught of Satan’s death songs. Wearing the face of honesty and walking the walk of righteousness, Christians can make a difference. God cannot heal through stiff necked silence and unforgiving sins.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”
Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Matthew 6:16 “Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast...”
Mat 23:25 “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.”
Paper masks are good and lawful. Masks of deception are inhibitors to self and others. Peace of mind can be found in masks of prevention; freedom in removing masks of deception. Know God, know peace. Amen. 07-24-2020 BLL
