Stripes
STRIPES
Isaiah
5:14
“...”his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form
more than the sons of men:” (Isaiah
53)
“...he
hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there
is
no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of
men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it
were our
faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he
hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him
stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was
wounded for our transgressions, he
was
bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was
upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Should
we, who have entered in and out of many sorrows, expect that God who
gave his only begotten Son to an agonizing death on the cross for our
iniquities, think it strange that He should be slow in answering
halfhearted prayers?
Angels have crossed
our path unrecognized because we did not pause in
our daily
pursuit
of earthly
happiness
to
seek the face of God. There
is a reason that God commands us to be continually in prayer. He
tells us to be prepared in season and out of season; going often into
a closet for dedicated, uninterrupted talking with Him. He hears and
answers the fervent prayers of the righteous. Our Lord has known all
sins, felt all pains so that we may have a more abundant life.
Isaiah
53:5 “...the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed. (1
Peter 2:24)
“Who
his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes
ye were healed.”
Whatsoever
we ask the Father in Jesus’
name
will in nowise be withheld from us. Asking and faith are the keys.
The
rod and stripes are the purification.
