TORCHES

Many years have passed since France united with America to build the Lady of peace. Called the Statue of Liberty, she was built in France in 1884 and delivered to Staten Island in 1886, The base on which she stands is 150 feet tall. Lady Liberty, as coined by President Reagan, stands an additional 150 feet. The torch in her raised right hand represents hope while her left arm holds a book representing the book of laws as a light of freedom. She has stood the test of time.
The Olympic fire is ignited several months before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games at the site of the ancient Olympics in Olympia, Greece. Relay runners carry the torch to light the cauldron which burns until the closing of the annual Olympic games. The Olympic flame represents the light of knowledge, life and spirit and symbolizes the handing down from generation to generation the symbol of harmony and goodwill of all people around the world.
There are torches of many colors and kinds. Some are for giving light to light the way. Some torches are beacons. No matter what the source, purpose or quality of the torch, it serves a light unto our feet.
Our Lord, Holy Spirit and God appears in smoke and flame with a voice of thunder and a mighty rushing wind or as a small quite whisper. However he speaks, those who listen for His voice hears him and He them.
Exodus 3:2 “And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.” Moses heard Him.
Psalms 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 18:3 “Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.”
Acts 2:3 “And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.”
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Know God, know peace. Amen. 06-11-20 BLL
