Without Within

WITHOUT WITHIN
For over thirty-six years I served our community as a protector and aid with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s office. For twenty-five years I was without such distinction; always desiring to move within. During my tenure there, I witnessed five Sheriffs seeking to move within that position and many more struggling without battling for the ‘supreme’ office of sheriff. Time limits in office were removed in the late seventies and sheriffs began to be within office many four year terms. I was without looking in. I was prepared to move within. My bid for that office ended when I lost the primary election 1999/2000. My lesson was well learned. True honesty, integrity and love of God and country. will not move one from without to within. There is no code of ethics when politicians come out to fight; no safe ground. I retired as chief deputy; marked. Consumed with cancer, radiation and chemo destructive side effects, I fought a good fight within all areas of the institution; process server, patrol, detective, corrections major, administrative major and chief deputy. God was not inside but stood outside knocking. I established a complete jail chapel. It had sun glass windows, sanctuary, baptismal and office for the chaplain. Many inmates came, worshiped and some turned their life around to serve the Lord.
In this brief introduction personal pronouns appear ten times. However, God is to be praised. Without Him none would move from the outside to the inside. Not only concerning things of this life but also into eternal life with Him. All praise be unto God; praise His Holy Name! God’s word on without to within:
Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
Luke 11:9 “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
John 10:9 “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”
Luke 13:25 “When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Many today stand without not even seeking to go within. There is coming a day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, the only begotten Son of God. As it was with the foolish and wise virgins waiting without for the groom to arrive and escort them within. Half were prepared and half were unprepared. The unprepared discovered too late that they were truly satisfied being without and made no prepositions to move within. Five anxiously awaited admittance within. They entered into the Glory of the Lord; Bride Groom. So it is with some in this world of the “Big “I” today. Some will come to a knowledge of truth before they are shut without. Fewer will enter into the open door and find peace. Go from without to within today. Know God, know peace. Amen. 05-24-2020 BLL

A Giving Heart

  A GIVING HEART “ Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.” (1 Chronicles 29:9) Israel’s people brought gifts for the construction of the holy temple in Jerusalem, it is mentioned no less than six times in this chapter that their offerings were willing offerings.   Each Day We can only live each day in its time frame. Yesterday, with its ups and downs is passed never to return. Tomorrow is a vision of hope not yet on the horizon. Each day bares its on unique set of events. Some recognizable some masked in ignorance. As we near the dawning of a new day, calling upon the Lord is a necessary activity. If we neglect the creat o r and giver of the new day, we simply cannot have a right spirit. Joy comes in the morning only through God’s book of promises.
