The Light
THE
LIGHT
Some
of you, I am sure, have visited some tourist adapted cavern and had
your guide turn off all lights. There in the total
darkness
you
witnessed a situation where there
is no light at all. No
matter how long you stood or how hard you tried to focus, no light
appeared. In
this setting, in
only a few seconds, the darkness permeates the soul. Should the light
remain off, panic would soon begin to manifest itself. The tour
guides
know this and shorten the length
of darkness. Not all feel the chill of the absence of light.
Some actually love it. Permanent
dwellers of
this
darkness cannot see.
Fish have no functional eyes. Cave “hoppers” have lost their
ability
to see. In the darkness,
bats use sonar to maneuver,
they cannot see and they love the safety and the security of being
unseen. Night hawks, owls and other night dwellers see very poorly in
the light of day. So is the hearts of people. What
saith the word of God?
Genesis
1:3 “And
God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4
And
God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from
the darkness.”
Like
water and oil, light and darkness wont mix.
John
1:1
“In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God. 2
The
same was in the beginning with God. 3
All
things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that
was made. 4
In
him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5
And
the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:6 “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
- Luke 11:34 “The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. (Matthew 6:23) “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 5:14) “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
- Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Luke 1:79) “To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
- John 3:20 “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
- John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
- John 12:35 “Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. (John 9:5) “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
- John 12:36 “While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.”
- Luke 11:35 “Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.” (Luke 11:36) If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.”
- 1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
- Ephesians 5:8 “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:” (Romans 13:12) “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” Know God, know peace.
