The Valley

THE DAWNING

The dawn breaks softly cross the eastern hills that frame what residents refer to as “the valley.” The darkness has passed along with all night critters songs of wonderment. The screech owls, whippoorwills and coyotes have returned to their secluded places and have hunkered down for rest. Soon, though, the “put-put” of some farmer’s diesel powered equipment will shatter the tranquility and another day will have begun in Fairview, Virginia. There is no promise that it will come to pass for any of us. Each has an appointment to close weary eyes in permanent sleep; then awaken in paradise or hell fire. it is not COVID-19 nor other world threats that need to be feared. “fear not the things of man.. (Matthew 10:28) “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Hell is an awful place but no one is compelled to go there. There is a way of escape made possible by the sacrificial death of the only begotten Son of God for the remission of the sins of all who will seek Him with a contrite spirit and a broken heart. (Revelation 22:17)And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Spiritually approach the presence of God seeking to be renewed or delivered from a sinful style of living. You have heard the Word. Approach the throne of God in a manner proper to receive His blessed promises. As always, be not afraid in your coming. (2 Timothy 1:7) “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
It’s down in the valleys of life that fear and doubt become overpowering. They tend to draw our eyes to the mountain tops that seem so far, far away. Those are the times we seek the face of God. It is understandable that, for some, COVID-19 is a deep, deep valley of sorrow; millions afflicted. Millions are dead and many unknown number of carriers among us. But, God don’t recognize the depth of the valley nor the height of the mountain. He is Lord in the valley and he is lord on the mountain; creator of all living. Christ is the great physician. He is our mighty strong arm of defense. He knows all things; He is the Word. (Hebrews 4:12)For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Know God, Know peace. Amen. 05–19-2020
