WEIGHT

- Lately reports are flooding the internet concerning unscrupulous measures in food count and weight. The drive through is accessed and upon arrival home the wrappers are opened to discover only a third of the luscious food expected. Store bought bags are half air, boxes half full. Could it be because of the cutback resulting from attempts to comply with governmental directives, lack of quality workers, cost of products or all of these. Can we lay this, also, at the feet of COVID-19; Probably not entirely. consider a few scriptures:
- 1 Peter 4:12 “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
- Deuteronomy 25 16 “For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God. (Deuteronomy 25:15) “But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have:” (Leviticus 19:35) “Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure.”
- Ezekiel 4:16 “Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment:
Micah
6:11 “Shall
I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of
deceitful weights? (Leviticus
19:36)
“Just
balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have:
I am the LORD your God...”
- 2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; (Matthew 11:30) “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
- Isaiah 10:27 “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
- Matthew 11: 28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- Clearly the practice of “short changing” in measure has long lived. Its more prolific today, we need not be surprised. In the end God will adjust any shortages with our spiritual blessings. Know God, know peace. Amen 05-13-2020 BLL
