- 1 Corinthians 14:25: And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
- Philippians 3:3: For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
- Revelation 19:10: And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

- (6 suggestions) So, when you’re preparing to lead worship that serves the Lord’s purposes, here are six facets to consider:
1. Plan for the congregation’s sake; attend with purity of a God centered heart.
Sing
songs highlighting the Grace of God. Songs with spiritual meaning.
Tunes with catchy, memorable melodies are easiest to follow and
remember. In some groups this is okay, in others old Southern Gospel
works best. Overlook mistakes in love and learning. All sing with the
groupe in the quire. Sing like your love had you choking for release.
Shout praises if the Spirit leads. Be love centered; be God centered.
All praise and joiful worship is toward Him and Him alone. God given
selections and scripture shall not glorify any body but Him.
A
multi-generational audience represents assorted musical
understanding, so conduct the service in a manner that will address
the entire group of worshipers. If they are not worshiping as they
should, they may not be being touched. Meaningless words and
unfamiliar, spiritless songs designed to draw attention to the
perfection of the song leader, teacher, preacher of anyone speaking
out for the lord is a performance.
2. Remember your job and Spirit led duties.
The
job of a singer or singers in worship services is to engage, not to
entertain. Sing clearly and loudly enough so that all can hear. When
you hear spiritual songs that touch the heart...shout out praise to
God. A worship service properly completed will not experience
uncomfortable silence. Bible reading (studying) to properly prepare
the leaders and the listeners in the proper manner to approach the
Throne of God and ignore the delivered of His Spirit led activities.
Maybe
someone in the congregation needs to see that it’s okay not to sit
or stand like a statue in church.
Worship
leaders are communicating with God and helping others do the same as
a “demonstration of Love and of respect and thanks for His majesty.
All praise goes to God, never to any fleshly creature that was molded
and made by Him. Sing out. Sing so He does not listen intently. He is
everywhere, all the time, eager for us to talk to Him. We can do that
in song, with full hearts, praising, asking, confessing directly to
Him.
3. Encourage joy.
Hear
God speak: When we worship the Lord in music, swaying, hands-waving,
abandoned joyfully to the rhythms of the Holy Spirit, is one way
Jesus uses lyrics and music to express His love back to us. You will
feel the Spirit uplifting you when you get in tune with God. He
connects with us individually and corporately.
Music
adds a visceral component to the voice of God. .Scripture set to song
is more memorable, replaying itself in one’s mind for days. Even
the unbeliever will find truth stuck in their head throughout the
week. Plan prayerfully and present uplifting Christ Jesus.
It’s
okay to jump,
twirl and jitterbug on
stage; dancing
for the Glory of God is dancing in Love. This
should be a time of joy. James asked “Is anyone happy? Let them
sing songs of praise.” (James
5:13)
The truth about Jesus really is
exciting, moving, and a reason for joy and
dancing. 2
Samuel 6:14 “And
David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded
with a linen ephod.”
4.
Support the message.
A
true worshiping pastor consult God in creating a balanced worship
service. God will direct the singing of songs that support God’s
directive in worship. Though enjoyable, (as noted above) setting
words to songs create memory tags to the Word and aid the
congregation to remember truth in God’s Word.
5. Honor modesty.
Even
when the music points believers to Jesus, showing too much flesh or
wearing a tight outfit causes competition between worship and gawking
or lusting. Wherever possible. suitable robes should be used. If not
possible modest dress is a must not only in the choir but also among
the pew worshipers. If the worship service is done properly, message
deliverers become invisible.
True,
God accepts us as we are, regardless of the clothes we wear. We
praise the Lord every time someone enters church, dirty, ragged,
half-naked or unwashed. Churches are to open their arms to
prostitutes and the homeless. Leading them to Christ is impossible
unless we have contact with them. Church Leaders however, are
ambassadors of redemption and have the obligation to lead and direct
the unknowing in proper respect for God and His sanctuary. Leaders
must realize that carelessness in appearance or demeanor suggests a
careless attitude towards our Lord and Savior.
The
multi-colored light show used in many financially secure church
houses during services isn’t necessary to promote praise. Good
lighting, however, enhances enjoyment the congregation witnesses
during worship. To God be all Glory!
6. Internalize worship.
When
will you know that performance gave way to worship? Like discerning
whether or not you are wise or humble: if you know you are, then you
aren’t. You might be unaware until someone tells you; “The
greatest shall be the least.”
Altar
calls are often made; “now with every head bowed and every eye
closed, ect.” closed eyes cause the people around us to disappear.
Jesus can then descends over the whole place spiritually without our
feeling His presence as intimidating; “just you and me Lord,
right?” you might be crying, or joyfully laughing but you will
definitely be dancing. I’ve seen this emotional response time and
time again.
What
Christ did for us on the cross should overwhelm but never take us by
surprise. All must know the Word. No one is immune, and sometimes
getting choked up is the eye-opener someone out there needs to
understand that the Bible isn’t just words. Church is indeed more
than a way to fill up Sunday morning. We worship a living God every
day.
Never
doubt that a sense Spiritual overwhelming will sometime happen to
you; it will. It’s a reward of worshiping and praising God
authentically. He comes so close sometimes you can feel His breath.
Zephaniah
3:17 says “The Lord your God is in your midst” and
He will “rejoice over you with gladness.”
Glorify
God! Know God, know peace Amen 11-16-91 BLL
