Little Things
11/25/17

Luke 16:10 KJV
10He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

One grain of sand at a time loaded one upon another, one scoop of sand loaded, one bucket of sand loaded, eventually becomes one ton of sand loaded into the same receptacle, until that receptacle is full to overflowing with grains of sand, created one at a time, loaded in small portions until it displaces all else.

That first grain of sand goes unnoticed as the receptacle fills, yet remaining the first of so many, that only build a greater volume as each grain is added.

The first pebble that is dislodged from atop the mountain rolling downhill dislodging others creates the landslide that eventually consumes all in its path.

A grain of sand, a pebble, are both little things. Things that go unnoticed until their volume increases, until they are a part of something much larger, something that may no longer be ignored.

It is always the "little" things that must be closely monitored and observed in lives that are made up of all the "little things" that so often drive the force which defines that life.

"Little things" defined as harmless grow in size and magnitude, both through individual lives, and that of the societies comprised by those individuals.

The same applies as "Little things" are subtracted from the whole, until what is left holds no resemblance to what was once deemed of importance and magnitude worthy of addition rather than subtraction.

Each time something is subtracted from the whole, there is the addition of the lack of that being subtracted.

Just as the pebble that was subtracted from the top of a mountain rolls along displacing all that lies within its path, adding  more to the subtraction of each point upon that path, so too does the subtraction, and thereby addition, to the morals, the laws, the existence of the changing world that surrounds us.

Yet, the composition, the elements that combine to make up each pebble and grain of sand, remain constant, never changing never diminishing without the outside force that is capable of initiating that change.

The greater the force applied, the greater the change that occurs, unless resistance to that force interrupts that change.

As we are bombarded, time and again with an onslaught of pebbles tumbling down hills, dislodging boulders along the way, choice is made to stand in the path of the deluge of the landslide, secure in the refuge chosen that remains permanent and impenetrable, or to abandon that refuge hoping to outrun that which gathers speed and intensity as each moment passes.

That refuge must not be one of those " little things" but must be seen as the biggest thing of all, meriting no subtraction or addition, sufficient in and of itself!

Faithfulness to the "little things" that comprise that refuge must not be forgotten, neglected or ignored, as their totality overshadows any attempted change from without.

Salvation never was, nor shall ever be a "little thing".

The sacrifice made on our behalf never was nor shall ever be a "little thing".

The life, ministry, teachings that led to that sacrifice cannot be pigeonholed into the box of "little things" accumulated and accepted by man.

The grace offered by that sacrifice, and ongoing mediation cannot be relegated to the classification of  "little things."

Substitution of the grand scale of our only refuge for the "little things" results only in the surety of the loss of that refuge  as those little things demand the loss of other, far more important "little things" expected of us.

Revelation 22
King James Version (KJV)
22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

And Amen
the Wayfarer
