Isaiah 40:8
King James Version (KJV)
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Beauty, fortune, and fame are flowers that fade rapidly, here one day and gone the next.
Rock Star celebrity is fleeting, the one hit wonders meteoric rise to popularity and fame giving way to each new fad, each new song to top the chart, as inevitably the one before it is forgotten in favor of the new.
So too do entire societies, entire civilizations streak across the cosmos of time burning brightly, only to find the abysmal fall to earth extinguishes all memory of the brief light of their existence.
Aspects of those one hit wonders are recorded for posterity, and the remembrance, good or bad of the effect that existence held of any importance for future reference of those holding the memory.
Leaders rise and are lauded, decisions made that prove the worthiness of that leadership, or the fallibility of that leadership that denigrates it turning fame into infamy.
Fame and fortune give way to poverty and despair as celebrity diminishes, any good forgotten while the bad retains precedence of the remembrance.
Self seeking narcissism blinds the eye of the most popular of the most current "Rock Stars" as empathy and sympathy are erased, opportunity to make an actual difference lost, damage done on the way to the abyss rather than continued lighting of the path around that abyss being shown.
History is littered with the memories of men, of societies, of civilizations begun earnestly striving to improve the lot of humanity through improving the lot of single factions within those societies while destroying other factions, many equally concerned with the eventual outcome of the strife created by the collision of those factions.
What ensues is the memory, not of what could have been accomplished, but what was destroyed by narcissism and hatred that have no positive outcome, rather than what was accomplished in love, sympathy and empathy for those around them whose worth holds no value in celebrity, but holds worth only in the single life lived while eventuality of the cessation of that life is recognized.
Ecclesiastes 3:19 KJV
19For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
Strife between love, sympathy, empathy and greed and narcissism is the strife within the very heart and soul of a creature given free will to choose between them which holds the greatest value to the being that must make that choice in a world of others of their kind making the same choice for themselves alone, unable to choose the direction taken by those around them.
Ambition, intellect, means to apply them to each situation, reflect those choices being made.
Guidance is taken from the remembrance of those chosen for emulation, those whose actions inspire the action of the direction chosen.
The largest portion of that guidance is taken from what is taught from birth to be the values of each as heroes are remembered, either for strength of body or mind, or for what was accomplished through that strength.
As time progresses, heroes are heralded by some, only to be found to be tyrants to others who refuse to acknowledge accomplishment, searching only for the fallibility and fault that exists in each alongside that strength that accounts for accomplishment.
Perfection in men does not, and cannot exist, while breath in men exists, demanding the continuation of choice that must be made.
That perfection comes only through the process that refines the creature as fire refines the purity of gold, or melts all away, finding slag and worthlessness in the decisions made, fallibility and failure in the choices made as what was initially put into the mixture proves its own worthlessness.
There is, however, a "ROCK STAR" that exists that continually burns brightly giving light to the path of all around, giving hope and salvation to all making the single choice of acceptance of what was offered, not through celebrity, but from poverty and denigration, by all around Him.
There was no meteoric rise, and no abysmal fall of that star, only the eternal presence of that Star in existence from the beginning, through the end and beyond eternity itself.
Revelation 22:16 KJV
16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
As men guided and guide themselves still on the oceans and on land alike on the presence and their knowledge of the stars above them, guidance is available through this Star that cannot fail if followed.
Choices made in direction taken, if taken from this Star assure the arrival at a chosen destination.
Love, sympathy and empathy are not lacking, failing nor ever missing, but eternally exemplified through this Star.
The few able to recognize the true celebrity and worth of that celebrity of the Son of God hold no hero higher, no cause greater, no accomplishment as worthy, no reward as pure and valuable than that offered by Him.
He came in obscurity and poverty from a glory unlike that available to any human "star" to provide that same glory and grace to men despite narcissism and greed, despite mans own lack of empathy for their own kind, despite their lack of sympathy for each other, despite the delight taken by them in the pain and failures experienced by others of their kind.
He brought a simple message comprehensible to all willing to hear and heed it, bringing also a simple single commandment that is evidence of having heard and heeded.
He brought promise and hope for those able to make conscientious choice of acceptance of the redemption available through repentance, and acceptance of the necessity to follow the single commandment left by Him:
John 13:34-35
King James Version (KJV)
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
2 Timothy 1:12 12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen
