Justice or Just Us

Matthew 23:23-26
King James Version (KJV)
23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
There has been, and shall continue to be, much discussion and much made of the obvious evil acts that plague a nation and the world in general.
Each time that obvious evil, that cannot be denied for that which it is, the cries for reason and rhyme to be submitted to the populace are heard, clearly and loudly, as they should be.
Along with the cries of lamentation and mourning of that obvious evil, cries go out continually for justice, for retribution of some kind, even when there is no retribution to be had for those so sorely affected by that evil.
Each new occurrence of those obvious evils, whether bombings, mass shootings, genocidal acts of war committed, that are atrocity to the seemingly sane, seemingly moral members of society around the world is greeted with disdain and objection and those cries for retribution and justice.
Headlines are made around the world heralding the evil of each of these acts, as the horror of the act is readily seen for what it is.
The number of killed and wounded are broadcast for all to see, for all to lament, for all to object to as the world continues to spin seemingly out of control, out of the power of understanding despite any attempt to make sense of the senselessness of the evil that has been perpetrated.
While these acts glean the headlines, what is not seen in them are the equally obvious evils that occur far more often, taking far more lives, that is equally objectionable and equally as discernable, yet somehow deemed less important.
Babies are murdered on mass scale... legally as "choice" takes precedence over the life created through the choice of the murderer.
Numbers of astronomical scale are ignored because it would be politically incorrect to "offend" the choices made that allow for those "legal" murders.
Children and young people die in equally astronomical numbers as the use of opioids and other "recreational" drugs are ignored.
This too seems to be an untouchable subject...untouchable because of the profit being made by providing the means of those deaths.
Body count and numbers killed in battle once gleaned the headlines as a senseless war raged, and names became mere numbers on a tally book that had no end of the tally being counted, in the days of my youth.
Those names and numbers are burned forever into history as senseless and without effect, lives expended with no value gained for that expenditure.
Many more names and numbers went untallied, and continue to go untallied as that expenditure still takes a daily toll on those that survived the days of that tallying.
The murdered babies are not so noted, no names to be written down, only numbers that increase without depletion, lives taken before the opportunity to live those lives is able to take place.
The same is true in the case of the "recreational" drug deaths of numbers that annually exceed the total tally of deaths in that long abandoned war that goes still without answer to the question of why.
In concert with those deaths, that are tallied in what is slowly being recognized as a crisis, there are other "untallied" deaths as the cartels and gangs kill each other in number to maintain their preeminence in the rewards being reaped by the sale of the poisons that create an evil far greater than that created by a single incidence of bombing or mass shooting.
Death follows the trail of profits being made, but no note is taken of either as laws go unenforced without hue or cry from a society that covers their eyes and ears in an effort to see and hear no evil.
Heads in sand are the only protection sought against evils that go unpunished for the time being despite the hue and cry for "Justice for all"
What is really being cried is not "Justice" but instead, "Just Us".
Just as in Noah's day, the men of reknown that ruled by virtue of strength alone without regard to "right" societies revert to the strength of power, power of wealth without regard for life, power of strength without regard to the necessity of its use, power of profitability and affluence that grants influence toward more of the same and a shallow respectability shown by other men.
James 2:1-13 KJV
1My brethren, have not the faith of our LORD Jesus Christ, the LORD of glory, with respect of persons. 2For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? 6But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? 8If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. 13For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
The law of liberty, brought by Christ Jesus is a liberty from ALL evil, both obvious, and that which is obfuscated by men, approved by men and committed by men in negation of that very purpose for which Christ was willing to make the supreme sacrifice of His own Life... rather than the sacrifice of the lives of men for worldly profit.
Evil may go unheralded by men, but WILL not go unnoted by God.
As that evil abounds, and grows ever more obvious, the denial of that evil by men will grow ever louder as the cries for "justice" continue to be only cries of "Just Us".
The few that see evil, in all of its embodiments, will continue to make the choice to stand against that evil, looking to the day of its final vanquishment and banishment in full knowledge and acceptance of the Justice to be delivered by He who is indeed Just!
Titus 2:11-14King James Version (KJV)
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Amen and Amen
