Pie in the Sky
Pie
in the Sky (Revelation
19:7-9)
7
“Let
us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of
the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8
And
to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean
and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 9
And
he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are
they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he
saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.”
How
often have we heard: bible thumping
Christians of
the ‘God squad’ are
“so heavenly minded that they are of no earthly use?” Referring
to our hope, those of little or no faith claim we are foolishly
waiting for “a pie in the sky in the sweet bye and bye.”
waiting for “pie in the sky bye and bye.” If
they knew just how far ‘off base’ they were they would want a
piece of the pie. Lord
Jesus has told us: “Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13), “And
whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”
(Colossians 3:23). We
are to be
as
the fruit of
the Holy Spirit seen in
Galatians 5:22-23 “But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24
“And
they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections
and lusts. 25
If
we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
Is
so be that we do, we walk as Christ walked. A
Christian should bare
fruit like unto that which Christ Jesus bore when he walked the hot
sand. All
honorable occupations come within the scope of God’s primeval
dominion mandate (See
Genesis
1:26-28). Slackers
are among us. Christians are not to walk as they walk. Representing
God we are to strive to do good works and do them well. “Whatsoever
thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
Nevertheless,
there is indeed a great feast day coming and
soon to arrive. Indeed
it will be a great blessing to be “called unto the marriage supper
of the Lamb.” Presumably those who partake of this wonderful feast
will be not only those who constitute His Bride, but also others who
are called to be guests at His wedding supper. Since the Holy City is
also called “the bride, the Lamb’s wife” and since it is
inscribed with the names of both the “twelve tribes” of Israel
and also of the “twelve apostles” (Revelation 21:9, 12, 14), it
is clear that believers from both the pre-Christian and Christian
ages will be there. They will all have responded to the Lord’s
invitation and have had the right attitude of heart and life toward
the will of the Bridegroom (Matthew 22:1-14; 25:1-13). Keep
a right attitude; know God,know peace. Amen 11-27-2019 BLL
