Prestidigitation and Prevarication

 Romans 1:22-27

²² Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

²³ And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

²⁴ Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

²⁵ Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Misdirection of focus, redirection of that focus away from the TRUTH delivered by Christ Jesus to anything and everything in denial of that TRUTH is the same tool used by the most proficient prestidigitator ever to practice that art, practiced first in the deception of Eve and attempted to be practiced by her children and their progeny.

Prestidigitation requires that misdirection of focus if it is to be successful. 

Smoke and mirrors employed disguise reality, unless total focus is maintained.

Disinformation disseminated is taken for absolute truth, while truth is disregarded when focus is removed from that truth, redirected to the lie wished to replace it.

Genesis 3:1-6

3 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

² And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

³ But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

⁴ And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

⁵ For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Prestidigitation, that redirection of attention and focus from where it is required precedes prevarication once that focus has been removed, growing in magnification, leading to ever more of the same.

Eve fell for the prestidigitator's trick that changed focus from blessings held to covetousness of  "blessings" that were in fact a curse in disguise.

She had been given the TRUTH, by God, but became more willing to accept the prevarication of a creature promising blessing, only to deliver the certainty of death that came with that acceptance of the lie with which he attempted to displace that TRUTH.

The prestidigitator continued, and continues to practice his art, weaving his lie into every aspect of human history, as men seek to focus on their wants, while ignoring the greatest need of all, many denying the existence of that need, to reconcile the eternal soul with the Creator of that soul in order to regain the LIFE intended for them.

Though men have long been practitioners of that same art of prestidigitation, long been aware of the prevarication that permeates their world, still they refuse to reject both, often clinging to some perceived accomplishment to be achieved through that practice.

Governments employ those tools on other governments, and on those they govern as well, misdirecting attention from real dangers, to dangers generated by their own dissemination of intentional disinformation to attain whatever goal they hope to achieve.

Just as the danger was ignored by Eve, despite having been warned, that same danger continues to be ignored , though it's denial cannot diminish the reality and totality of that danger.

Man rushes headlong into that danger as the denial becomes ever more prevalent, ever more visible to any willing to return focus to the TRUTH, and the soul that must confront that TRUTH despite that denial.

God has pleaded with this headstrong, stubborn creature, providing that creature guidance for the required reconciliation, has continued in His love for that creature, giving warning time and again, granting covenant to that creature, only to have that covenant rejected and broken time and again as his covenant with the serpent's prestidigitation and prevarication is chosen over what was promised... LIFE rather than death.

The final covenant provided required no prestidigitation, no prevarication, but required a WAY be granted for the TRUTH to be seen and the LIFE intended to be accepted.

That final covenant was sealed by the blood of Christ Jesus, GOD's only begotten Son, given as sacrifice for any and all willing to hear the simple message OF LOVE, and of warning brought by Him as the creature hurtles ever closer to the destruction of the creation he was given charge of .

Focus was not misdirected, but was redirected back to the original intent for the eternal soul through that simple message  to:

"REPENT! For the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

That message of LOVE, and of WARNING as well, were certified by the resurrection, and continued mediation of a Savior... the only Savior who still provides WAY, TRUTH and LIFE for those unwilling to be duped by the prestidigitation and prevarication of either that serpent that convinced Eve of an equality with God not held by man, or by the creature himself, (man), no matter how adept he may have become in practicing the art taught him by that serpent.

The same simple message delivered from the river Jordan to the cross remains TRUTH for those able to accept it.

No other gospel is capable of delivering that TRUTH, or the LIFE that comes only through Christ Jesus.

Prosperity gospel, and the prestidigitation it provides,  proves the prevarication  of that prosperity,

when that prosperity ends at a grave, providing no hope for the real prosperity of promised LIFE...redemption given only for repentance, both real and without any sleight of hand that can only lead to death.

³⁶ For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

As the prestidigitator continues his prevarication, he cannot be effective unless attention is allowed to be taken from the point of focus  that should be paramount to every human being, both for themselves and for their kind about them, whether family and loved ones, friends or foes, whose attention wanders if there is any attempt to reach those reachable and teach those teachable despite the obstacle presented by the prestidigitation and prevarication.

2 Timothy 1:12 KJV

¹²For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
