Fruit of the Holy Spirit - LOVE
Fruit of the Holy Spirit – LOVE
I today’s society and perhaps as far back as Adam and Eve, the word love has been used to express a feeling of caring. As centuries have rolled by, love has not only diminished in meaning but in fact as well. With a pat on the back, an “I love you” and lets do this again sometime, we part feeling good in our heart. Often we know it is only a ‘brush off.’ Sometimes we Christians use words of love earnestly when sharing the hope of eternal life. Occasionally friends use it in a manner meaning “I am worried about you. But, in a world where sense of fairness seldom if ever becomes an obsession, it is not unlikely that between romantic encounters the love shown is enjoyed more by one than the other. Until death do us part” has been replaced with “until I become annoyed or dissatisfied in our relationship. The word love used in partings has become only a word equal to “see ye later alligator.” Love should be spoken from the heart and directed as a comfort to someone we really love on whatever level the circumstances apply. Love is not supposed to end in absence. True love, if such exists aside from Holy Spirit Love, does not kill itself or die from natural causes. A dying love is human generated and is a product of Satan. Center your love, focus it and apply it in cases where it can flourish and not wither and die. Jesus commanded us to have a pure love for Him and for each other.’ Galatians 5:22 “...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
- Mark 12:30 “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (Mark 12:31) And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
- 2 John 1:6 “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.”
- Matthew 5:43 “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. (Matthew 5:44) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”
- Matthew 24:12 “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
- 1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
- Know God, know peace. Amen. 02/01/21 BL
