STRAIT AND NARROW

THE WORD

1 Chronicles 21:13 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man. Philippians 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Numbers 22:26 And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

Straight from here to heavens gate is a path Christians must strive to walk and endure. Christ came to teach us, not only what we are to know and believe, but what we are to do; not only toward God, but toward ALL men. We must do that to our neighbor which we ourselves acknowledge to be fit and reasonable. We must love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

In other words, in our dealings with men, suppose ourselves in the same case and circumstances with those we have to do with, and act accordingly. There are but two ways right and wrong, good and evil; the way to heaven and the way to hell. In the one or other of these two, all are walking; there is no middle place hereafter and thus no middle way now. All the children of men are saints or sinners, godly or ungodly. The way of sin and sinners, that is the wide gate and stands open all the time. Everyone is welcome; none are rejected. You may go in at this gate with all your lusts about you; it gives no check to appetites or passions. It is the broad way. There are many paths leading into it; many choices of sinful ways. There is a large procession on their way to hell. As they go there are many exits to the narrow path to New Jerusalem and peace forever. These they decline. Christians In the narrow way turns not to the right or left at Satan’s nudging. But those traveling downward, what profit is there in being willing to go to hell with others, because they will not go to heaven with us? The non-wavering walk and the strait way into eternal life is narrow. As we walk the pathway to the narrow gate of home, we suffer many things. Self must be denied, the body’s lusts kept under control, and corruptions mortified. Daily temptations must be resisted; God’s work must be done. We must watch in all things, and walk with care. We surly will face much tribulation. And yet this way should invite us all It leads to life and to present comfort in the favor of God; wherein is the life of the soul. Living in this eternal bliss is, the hope of which at the end of our way, should make all the difficulties of the road easy to us, we are few. All the masses that have sided with the greater number, have gone on in the broad and easy road to eternal damnation with Satan and his angels.. If we would serve God, we must be firm in our Christianity. Do we ever consider the strait gate and the narrow way, and how few there are that find it, without being in pain for ourselves. Do we secretly inquire of God and ourselvesng whether we are entered on the narrow way, and what progress we are making in it?

Nothing blocks men from entering the narrow way to the strait gate, and becoming true followers of Christ. However, the carnal, soothing, flattering doctrines of those who oppose the truth cause faltering. Amen. Know God, know peace. 12-19-2019 BLL
