Striving

STRIVING

2 Timothy 2:15-26
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;”
We’ve written about “getting back to the basics before.” People, in general, tend to strive always pressing their point of view; sometimes unto the point of exchanging of blows. Anger mounts and logical assumptions recede. Listeners will take away from such a debate their own interpretation and later engage in an endeavor to make their point accepted. Those disposed to arguments (strive), commonly argue about matters of small importance. When special points of interest in God’s word is the topic of disagreement, it is of huge importance. Strife of words destroy the things of God.
There is a true and simple doctrine of Christian religion. Many have erred in it’s presentation. The apostle here mentions some who erred. They did not deny the resurrection, but they corrupted that true doctrine. Though foolish and erroneous, presenting small issues found in Gods word and expounding a personal opinion concerning their importance in salvation, it will overturn the temporary faith of some professors of Christ. None can overthrow the faith of any grounded children of God. Those who would have the comfort of the privilege, must keep fast to the fact Christ gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, #Tit 2:14|. True believers are vessels filled with all the fullness of God. We must see to it that we are holy vessels. Every one in the church whom God approves, will be devoted to his Master's service, and thus fitted for his use.
The more hear that which is good, the faster and the further we shall flee from that which is evil. Eating of the basis fact of Christianity will take us from fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness and into the light of God’s Grace. Many times the apostle cautions against disputes in concerning extraneous points drawn from God’s Holy Word. which surely shows that religion consists more in believing and practicing what God requires, than in subtle disputes. Know God, know peace and TRUTH. Amen 12-05-2019 BLL Also Read:
2 Timothy 2:14 “Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.” Ecclesiastes 12:9 “And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.” Ecclesiastes 12:10The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.” Romans 10:14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”
