Make it all go Away

MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY

26:42 39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 42He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

6:10-13: Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11Give us this day our daily bread. 12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

“”Make the world go away, get it off my shoulders...” We lament our chosen contrition of carrying the world with all its calamities and suffering. We cry to God in pieces of removal even though he made our existence perfect. When we chose the world as aposed to Loving Him, he chunked worldly treasures (calamities, upon us with all its sorrow and suffering. Adam and Eve were deceived into believing that is what human kind would desire. We have begged relief from God of that suffering since Satan’s so called “benefits” began in the garden. The world mourns, pleas and shouts to God. Christians sometime mimic the world when talking to their father but such is rejected by him. It is thought that this exportation is garnishment on the prayer; it is not.

This ordinance of the Lord's supper is to us the new Passover supper. It sets standards that God will recognize without fail if belief is attached. Take, eat; accept of Christ as he is offered to you; receive the atonement, approve of it, submit to his grace and his commandments. Meat looked upon, be the dish ever so well garnished, will not nourish; it must be fed upon: so must the doctrine of Christ. Beams of his Grace must descend upon us; so we partake of Christ by partaking of his grace, and the blessed fruits of the breaking of (bread) his body. The blood of Christ is signified and represented by the wine. He gave thanks, to teach us to look to God in every part of decisions. This cup he gave to the disciples with a command, “Drink ye all of it.” The pardon of sin is that great blessing which is, in the Lord's supper, conferred on all true believers; it is the foundation of all other blessings. Christ Came as the second Adam to offer a path back which would reverse the trials and death Satan had offered and promises.

Jesus closed his example saying He would drink no more wine: "Until that day when I drink it new with you in my Fathers Kingdom."How we look toward joys and glories of the future state, which the saints shall partake with the Lord Jesus. That will be the kingdom of his Father; the wine of consolation will there be always new. While we look at the outward signs of Christ's body broken and his blood shed for the remission of our sins, let us recollect that the feast cost him as much as though he had literally given his flesh to be eaten and his blood for us to drink. How He suffered! How He bled and how He prayed are patterns for us to follow. “Lean on me” was his directive.

Today’s reading (verses 31-35) Implies improper self-confidence, like that of Peter, is the first step to a fall. There is a proneness in all of us to be over-confident in our own closeness to God. But those fall soonest and foulest, who are the most confident in themselves? Those who are least safe, who think themselves most secure. Satan is active to lead such astray; they are most off their guard: God leaves them to themselves, to humble them. Know God, know peace. Amen. Matthew 26 12-11-1920 BLL
