Crown

CROWN

Mark 14:20

14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him. 15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified. 16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band. 17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, 18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! 19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him. 20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

Customs are ingrained into our way of life.; always have been. I suspect there will be traditions followed until Jesus comes again. At the time of the sacrifice of Jesus, the custom was to crown dignitaries as a binding of their new royal status and authority. There was no power in the crown. The power came from the consensual authorities placing it. It carried responsibilities commensurate with its status.

Unwittingly, the Roman authorities and consenting (participating) Jews both announced in written decree and by crowning Jesus with a crown, proclaimed Him King of the Jews. Though vicious and meant to shame, it was a declaration and anointing of Jesus as King of Kings and Lord of Lord. That was the extent of their authority. God did the rest.

It would be interesting to know what became of that crown of thorns Jesus wore that day. Stained with His blood and symbolic of the acknowledgment of His Godly authority, it lays some place as a pile of blood soaked dust faded away. Our salvation and our glory lies not with it in oblivion. We are given power from above to become the suns and daughters of God; the bride of Lord Jesus. Having believe the report and accepted our anointing, there is work to be done.

1 Peter 5:4 1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

2 Timothy 4:8 “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. 4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. 5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.”

10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

If only to wear a gold jeweled crown, signifying we are the children of God, how great would our reward appear. We are not in this heavenly way for the crown. Everlasting life, peace and happiness cuddling our lord Jesus is our driving force. To know Him is to Love Him and I do. Know Jesus, know peace. Amen. 12-24-2019 BLL
