Satan's Jealous Heart
Satan's
Jealous
Heart
“And
the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? . . .
Still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against
him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the LORD, and
said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his
life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh,
and he will curse thee to thy face.”
(Job
2:3-5)
We’ve
been considering Lucifer’s lies concerning our beliefs in God’s
word. He is successful in some ways in all Christian’s lives; for
we have all sinned. If we say we have not sinned then we are calling
God a liar. God said we all sin but we have an advocate (Jesus
Christ) whose
shed sacrificial
blood cleanses us of all sin and continually
wipes away our tear sins moment by moment.
Those
who are in darkness sin not against the commandments for God’s laws
do not apply because they are not His, That is not to say that they
don't commit sinful acts that must be brought to light, repented and
forgiven or they will forever belong to the dark side and resign in
hell with Satan eternally. The devil already have a host of
worshipers. Those he simply keeps too busy to consider God or seeking
light. Occasionally a few escape the devils grasp and slide into the
light. When properly done by some receiving child of God, they become
children of the light. Jesus Christ is Lord and as such He is that
light. Satan struggles tirelessly to regain those he has lost. Most
often his little sin invitations, melts in the blood of Jesus. In
Job 2:3-5 is capable of doing to achieve hid capture of deserters.
God
is confident in the love of some of us. Job was one of God’ finest
servants on earth. He knew tempting Job would teach Satan a lesson in
love. He gave Satan certain liberties in dealing with Job: all save
his life. Without delay and grinning ear to ear, Satan
cast
destruction on the house of Job. He directed his forces to take away
all that job possessed. Simultaneously, he swiped away Job’s
children.
Job
shocked Satan. “Job
arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon
the ground, and worshiped,
and said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I
return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed
be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God
foolishly”
(Job
1:20-22).
Sheepishly
appearing among the “sons of God” again, Satan callously suggests
that if God would strike “His hand” against Job—this time by
ruining his health, Job
would
falter. First Satan attacks the soul of man. Failing there he
tortures the body. Satan ask God to allow him to begin the second
phase of winning back Job into darkness. He told God Job
would rebel and disavow his relationship with God if
he were made ill.
All of heaven must have cowered as Satan maliciously baited God
again. Confidently
the Lord
said to Satan, “Behold,
he is in thine hand; but save his life. So went Satan forth from the
presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of
his foot unto his crown”
(Job
2:6-7).
Job
boils
itched badly. He crawled
to the trash heap to find
pieces of broken glass with which to scrape
the oozing pus from his sores. Job’s
wife of little faith
screams
a final slur in
his face: “Curse God and die.” But Job simply says,
“What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not
receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips”
(Job
2:10).
Satan
further raked Job soul and body without success. In
the end, Job was restored ten fold for his suffering and loss. All
because he never believed in any spiritual power save that from God.
Follow this good
example of Job.
Let it encourage
us to trust God even in times of woe. Know
God, know peace 04-0502019
