There are things we know that we know
Ecclesiastes 3:15
King James Version (KJV)
15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
I find that returning to this favorite verse from a continually applicable scripture is mandatory when making sense of a world spinning, not out of control, but out of control by the men who so desperately wish to maintain the façade of that control.
A quote from the not so distant past confirms the desperation to maintain that façade.
"There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know."
Donald Rumsfeld
This seemingly complex statement holds within it the same TRUTH offered by Solomon so long ago, though the context in which it is offered would on the surface appear to be divergent from the original context found within that scripture.
I have before, and will again offer a nugget shared by a mentor that I continue to venerate as a positive influence on the thought processes developed in my younger years that shared that same TRUTH.
"Man learns nothing form history except that man learns nothing from history."
Man's history began in the Garden of Eden and has progressed from disobedience there that granted him "knowledge" to this time in which we live currently, influenced by that "knowledge".
Perhaps it is past time to truly evaluate what is "known" and accept that which is known.
Adam "knew" that partaking of the fruit shared with him by Eve was forbidden.
Eve in turn "knew" that the serpent had assured her that eating of that fruit, known to be forbidden, would not result in the surety of death, but would make her somehow equal with the Creator that had forbidden it.
We now "know" that the result of that disobedience did in fact result in the penalty of death that was preordained by that Creator.
What she thought to be known, was false, fallible because of her fallibility, a fallibility of perception that plagues her progeny to this day.
That fallibility began with the acceptance of the lie that appeared to offer so much, that instead stole far more than it could ever provide.
The first known known became the knowledge of the Truth of God's warnings and promises.
That known, no matter how loudly denied, remains as true today as it was then.
Hebrews 9:27
King James Version (KJV)
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Denial of this "known" does not change the fact of its existence, nor does it change the fact of the continued existence of the soul that is to face that judgement by the Creator who made the initial promise.
Things we know that we know, as given us by the ongoing quest for knowledge by mankind are subject to change, as what is known proves itself to provide the falsity created through the fallibility of continuing to believe the original lie perpetrated on Eve.
We have in the history of this creature "known" that the world was flat, and that if you sailed to the edges you would fall off. We have known that the sun revolved around the earth.
We have known with certainty and clarity that mankind is in charge of and the premiere intellect within an acknowledged unknown immense universe.
Those "known knowns" are brushed aside with each new discovery that cannot be and is not new to the Creator that instituted that universe.
Known unknowns once accepted become a source of research to reach for still more of that "knowledge" that remains so touted by a creature that was assured the certainty of the results of that knowledge.
Those unknowns are shadowed by the unknown unknowns, in other words, a continuous circle that is an attempt by men to find answers they are incapable of providing for themselves because they are NOT equal to God as was the original lie that started that circle that ends only by returning to the Center from which it originated.
The more we know, the more we begin to comprehend how much is in fact unknown, and will remain unknown until we return to that Center.
The KNOWN remains.
A friend closes most of his writings with the simple, yet complex thought that in order to know peace, we must know God.
This is a continuation of that Truth spoken in the opening scripture, and the only TRUTH that will suffice once the unknowns are known.
That truth begins with the knowledge of God, the omnipotence, and omniscience of God, the perfection of God and His plans for this creature despite the inherent stubbornness that he exhibits toward the resistance of that will, given through instruction time and again, begun in that garden, and culminating in the greatest sacrifice ever given, that of His Son, Christ Jesus who overcame the certainty of that first known (the surety of death) and provided the means to return to the Center of the Love provided from the beginning that continues still for those willing to accept the simple knowledge of the TRUTH that has been given us.
Without the TRUTH of Christ Jesus, that known can be the only true known, despite all attempts to obfuscate and obscure the reality of God's warnings and promises.
1 Corinthians 15:53
“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”
Until this final "known" is perceived by the eternal soul, the mortal will know nothing, except that he thinks he knows all.
John 14:6
King James Version (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The path to knowledge, true knowledge has been established BY THE CREATOR, and there is no other path to the knowledge intended for us by that Creator, knowledge that holds either the promise of eternal life, or eternal death as is chosen by each of these inferior creatures for himself.
What do you KNOW?
2 Timothy 1:12
King James Version (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen
