Firm is the Rock
Firm is the Rock
“Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.” (Deuteronomy 32:18)
We
need but to look at the past to know the present and imagine the
future. God, “The Rock” never changes. Prophesy is certain. Time
for our universe to enter into the prophesied turmoil of the last
days. Moses, approaching the end of his leadership of the people of
Israel and his life, predicted the coming apostasy of Israel. It was
no new thing. Moses turned to the prophetic “history” of Israel.
Not only did his prophecy come true for the nation of Israel because
it was the Word of God, but we see the same developing in much of
Western Christianity today.
Moses
reminded
them of God’s prophetic warning. He reeducated them concerning
the fact that Israel had been blessed greatly of the Lord. Yet,
even now as in the past they drawing
closer to Him, they grew “fat,
and . . . Forsook God which made [them], and lightly esteemed the
Rock of [their] salvation”
(Deuteronomy
32:15).
The use of the term “rock” refers to the rock that Moses struck,
yielding water to sustain them in the parched desert region. That
rock sustained them in the dry desert with cool, fresh water. “That
Rock was Christ,” 1
Corinthians 10:4.)
4
“And
did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that
spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” They
willfully
represses the knowledge that
the God of their creation and salvation. They
preferred to
sacrifice to demons, old gods, and to any new age
gods
around (Deuteronomy
32:17-18)
17
“They
sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to
new gods
that
came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
(Deuteronomy
32:3-4)
“I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our
God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect; for all his ways are
judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he”
.
My
dear family of Christians, God has given us life, and without His
daily sustenance all life would cease. How foolish would be to
attempt to live life without the One “that begat” us—who gave
us life and even now maintains it. Yet, “all too often,” the
Creator God is excluded from our churches which once become apostate,
ignore God’s fading influence in government, and our schools. Even
many Christians live their lives as practical atheists, making
decisions and living their lives just as if no God exists. Listen
close folks, there is a God and He alone makes ALL things possible.
Without God nothing that is would be. Know also that God is delaying
His wrath to allow reformation and re-dedication among “Christians,”
He sends warning signs of approaching end times. It is high time we
to be giving the rightful place in our lives and in our sphere of
influence to “the Rock that begat” us. Know God, know peace. Amen
