Between

Between

Just between you and me, I’ll put forth a little practiced secret. Not that it is Godly nor is it Christian in nature, but a truth none- the-less. I advocate love without boundaries. God’s love is on such a scale. Robert Frost wrote his feelings and I share them. A wall can be of stone or it can be of a chilled heart. Both place separation between neighbors, friends and families. Maybe we should tear down some walls and build trust. The dash between born and died should not be a series of walls designed to set neighbors one against another. Walls of many sorts, I have built. I repent and embrace love to fill the gap between me and all who would cross into my bath. Jesus did the same. Robert Frost wrote in his poem ‘Mending Wall:’

Something there is that doesn't love a wall,

That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it,

And spills the upper boulders in the sun;

And makes gaps even two can pass abreast.”

Be it nature, elves or God, fences and walls fail and are in constant need of repair. Usually it is after a sever winter and spring thaw that the country side is filled with menders. Folks confined by city walls have worse expierencies. Black with worry and sorrow, suicide seems to join murder in the planned escape. Often walls are not to keep in but to keep out. Lonely is the person whose walls forbid passage of potential friends. Worse are they that wall Christ out of their heart.

Frost wrote of how a wall in England was repaired; sad!

I let my neighbor know beyond the hill;

And on a day we meet to walk the line

And set the wall between us once again.

We keep the wall between us as we go...

Good fences make good neighbors.’

Today we will celebrate the birth of a child destined to change history forever. Named Jesus and born poor, He grew in wisdom and knowledge. He was the only begotten ‘Son of God.’ Between born – died, he tore down walls of separation between nations and rent the veil to open Himself to all who would come. He fulfilled the old law and practices and established the plan of salvation. He stands a mighty protector between a people in darkness and His children. He is ‘King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.’ Know God, know peace. Amen. 12/25/20 BLL
